It’s incredible what 24 hours can change.

In the blink of an eye, roads were washed away, bridges were destroyed, and homes were damaged. A community we know so well was suddenly facing challenges none of us could have imagined.

After spending the majority of the past 24 hours assessing damage, responding to calls, and helping our neighbors, we finally had a moment to step back and reflect.

As difficult as this situation has been, we are incredibly grateful that no lives were lost. Property can be repaired. Roads and bridges can be rebuilt. But lives cannot be replaced.

What has stood out the most during this difficult time is the way our community has come together. Neighbors helping neighbors. People checking on one another. Volunteers stepping up. When Morrisvale needed help, people answered the call.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Boone County Emergency Management and the Boone County Swift Water Rescue Team for their assistance throughout this emergency. Your expertise, dedication, and willingness to work alongside us helped us navigate the obstacles we faced and, most importantly, helped ensure the safety of the people in our community.

We also want to thank every firefighter, first responder, law enforcement officer, state road member, lineman, volunteer, business, church, and community member who has stepped up during this difficult time.

Morrisvale has been through a lot in the last 24 hours, and there is still a long road ahead. But if there is one thing this flood has shown us, it is that we are stronger when we stand together.
