🔥 DANGEROUS FIRE CONDITIONS FRIDAY (10/16/26) AND SATURDAY (10/17/26)

Strong winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation are creating dangerous fire conditions across Mississippi today and into the weekend. Red Flag Warnings are in effect today as a strong cold front moves through, bringing northwest winds gusting between 25 and 35 mph.

These conditions can cause fires to spread quickly, so now is the time to take extra precautions.

🚫 Help prevent wildfires:

Follow local burn bans and restrictions.

Avoid outdoor burning.

Secure trailer chains to prevent sparks.

Dispose of ci******es properly.

Stay Safe Mississippi!

FIRE SAFETY ADVISORY – PLEASE DO NOT BURN!

There are currently several brush fires burning across Jones County, and with the windy conditions, the risk of fires spreading quickly is extremely high.

We strongly urge everyone to refrain from ALL outdoor burning at this time.

Even a small, controlled fire can become dangerous in a matter of seconds when the wind picks up. Jones County volunteer fire departments are already responding to multiple incidents, and preventing additional fires is critical.

Please help us protect our communities, homes, and first responders by holding off on burning until conditions improve.
