Happy National Farmer’s Day!

Today, we honor the independent farmers, generational growers, and agricultural producers who anchor Grant County’s economy AND feed the world.

Behind our expansive fields and thriving livestock operations are dedicated producers whose strategic vision, business management, and deep roots in the land power one of our region's most critical economic drivers. Show your appreciation by visiting Moses Lake Farmers Market, Ephrata Farmer's Market, Mattawa Flea Market, or markets in Royal City and Quincy; attending a community festival; or dining at a farm-to-table restaurant! !

Thank you to Grant County’s farmers and producers for growing the food, opportunities, and communities that make our region unique!

Kevin Burgess: Member of Grant EDC Board of Directors.

As a Grant County Commissioner for District 1 since 2025, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners, and Managing Broker with Windermere Real Estate K-2 Realty in Moses Lake, Kevin brings experience in real estate, land use, property management, infrastructure planning, and community service to the Grant County EDC board. A lifelong resident and Moses Lake High School graduate, Kevin earned his real estate license in 1994, Designated Brokers license in 1996, and has helped clients navigate residential, commercial, income, and agricultural properties for more than 25 years. His background also includes owning and operating a real estate franchise in Ephrata, and developing up-close insight into the county’s housing needs, zoning considerations, contractors, and development opportunities.

Kevin also participates in the Columbia River Caucus, Eastern Washington Council of Governments, local health board, PCC Rail Authority, Workforce Forum of Commissioners/ WA, and his past leadership with the Grant County Association of Realtors, where he served as president and contributed at the state level as a director. He also served as the President of the Moses Lake-Othello Association of Realtors.

Kevin said, “I proudly serve on the EDC Board to stay engaged in the issues affecting Grant County and to better understand the opportunities and challenges ahead. My goal is to help make our community stronger by serving our citizens, sharing useful information, and encouraging thoughtful, proactive planning for Grant County’s future growth.”

Outside of work and public service, Kevin enjoys hunting, boating, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. A hands-on builder, he constructed his own custom home in 2015 with help from family and friends. Kevin added, “I am a lifelong citizen of Grant County I am proud of where I live and I want to contribute as much as I can during the time I am here. Everything I do for the community and other people in the community is not for recognition or praise I do it because it is the right thing to do. I grew up on a small farm in Cascade Valley and my dad always told me to never sit and watch someone else work you get in there and help. Never stand around if you have time to stand around find something to do.”

We sincerely appreciate the experience and leadership Kevin brings to the Grant EDC board! Thank you, Kevin!
