A special delivery had our second-year aquaculture students hitting the ground running after our two-week fall intersession!

We recently welcomed approximately 600 seatrout from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Lyman Hatchery. Students divided the fish among their tanks and slowly acclimated them to their new homes.

Now comes a fun year of caring for them and watching them grow before releasing them at the end of the school year! Through DMR’s stock enhancement efforts, students are helping support wild fish populations and the fishing we all enjoy. Hands-on learning with a conservation purpose!

From the Skies to the Seas!

A special THANK YOU to the USM Gulf Coast Research Lab's Marine Education Center for visiting our Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) students at Moss Point Career & Technical Education Center!

Our students explored the fascinating world of underwater drones and marine technology, discovering how engineering principles used in aerial drone operations also apply beneath the water's surface.

Through hands-on activities, students investigated buoyancy, design, and problem-solving while gaining exposure to new applications of unmanned technology.

We appreciate USM's commitment to providing meaningful, real-world learning experiences that introduce our students to exciting career opportunities in STEM and marine technology!

At the CTEC, we're preparing students to explore opportunities above AND below the surface!

Moss Point FFA is officially sporting the blue and gold!

Chapter President Jeraliz Sanchez received her FFA jacket. A first in Moss Point FFA history and an exciting milestone for our growing chapter! Now in our fourth year, our aquaculture program’s student organization has a full leadership team and plenty of FFA pride. Every step brings more opportunities for students to lead, compete, and represent Moss Point!

Help us keep growing! Join us for our next plant sale on Saturday, November 7, from 8 a.m. to noon. Proceeds will help cover student membership dues and support our goal of purchasing a classroom set of FFA official dress so students have what they need to participate in competitions.

BIG NEWS for Moss Point!

For the very first time, our Health Science program has officially been approved by the Mississippi State Department of Health as a Nurse Aide Training Program!

This approval creates another valuable pathway for our students to gain hands-on healthcare training, prepare for industry credentials, and take meaningful steps toward careers in the medical field.

We’re proud of the hard work that went into reaching this milestone and even more excited about what it means for our students!

From scratch to the plate!

Our Culinary Arts students rolled up their sleeves and made homemade Cacio e Pepe pasta topped with Italian guanciale. Students worked through the entire process. From preparing and rolling the fresh pasta dough to cutting, cooking, and finishing the dish.

Experiences like this give our students the opportunity to build real culinary skills while learning the precision, technique, and attention to detail required in a professional kitchen. And judging by the finished plate… They understood the assignment!

Congratulations to Jordan Patton-Kosch, our first aquaculture student to complete his OSHA-10 workplace safety training!

This training teaches students to recognize workplace hazards, prevent injuries, and understand their rights and responsibilities on the job. Jordan’s achievement adds a valuable credential to his résumé and helps prepare him for future careers in aquaculture, agriculture, manufacturing, and beyond.
