It’s been a busy day for firefighters in Colquitt County, with two house fires putting our crews and teamwork to work.

The first call came during the early morning hours for a residential structure fire. Firefighters arrived quickly and made an interior attack, containing the fire to the room where it started and stopping the flames from spreading to the rest of the home.

Just after lunch, firefighters were called out again for a second residential structure fire. This fire started on the front porch and had spread into the attic. Crews made an aggressive interior attack and worked through the attic to get ahead of the fire, stopping the spread and extinguishing the remaining flames.

Two strong examples of what can be accomplished when our continued training and teamwork come together.

Calls like these take a team effort, and we are fortunate to have firefighters across Colquitt County who are always willing to show up, work together, and get the job done.

Colquitt County Fire would like to give a BIG shoutout and thank you to Doerun Elementary School for inviting our firefighters out to spend some time with their students!

Our personnel from Station 12 had an awesome time talking with the students, showing them a little bit about what firefighters do every day, answering questions, and sharing what it takes to serve our community.

We love getting the opportunity to interact with our community and especially our youth!
