Our prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy. Psalms 34: 17-18

Our prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

Psalms 34: 17-18

Our hearts are heavy following the tragic events at Stryker Field in Wichita. Cole, the young boy who lost his life, was the nephew of our full-time medic, Miranda Gallagher. This loss touches our EMS family deeply, and we extend our prayers, love, and support to Miranda, their entire family, and everyone affected by this tragedy.

We will share a plan in the near future for how our community can come together to support the family. For now, please respect their privacy and allow them to grieve in their own way. If you know them personally, reach out and stop by to share a positive memory of Cole. Those memories are helping carry them through this heartbreaking time.

Please do not speculate or share information you do not know to be true. Be mindful of your words and comments, and remember that behind every headline is a family facing unimaginable heartbreak.

Miranda, your Moundridge EMS family stands beside you. 🤍-TZ

The City of Moundridge adopted a new ordinance at the city council meeting last night regarding electric-assisted scooters and other self-propelled scooters/pocket bikes.

The goal of this new ordinance is to provide clear expectations for riders while keeping pedestrians, motorists, and other members of our community safe.

Some of the key rules include:
• Scooters shall be ridden on public sidewalks whenever one is reasonably available. When a sidewalk in not available, riders may ride on the street to the nearest available sidewalk.
• Pedestrians always have the right-of-way on sidewalks.
• The maximum speed allowed is 15 MPH.
• Riders under 16 are required to wear a helmet.
• Scooters may not be operated on streets with a 35 MPH or higher speed limit.
• No passengers allowed unless the scooter is specifically designed to carry two people.
• Scooters operated between sunset and sunrise must have the required lighting/reflectors.
• Scooters are not permitted in designated areas such as grassed park areas, tennis/pickleball/basketball courts, fire lanes, or public parking facilities except where specifically allowed.

Our goal is simple: keep our sidewalks, streets, parks and downtown area safe and enjoyable for everyone. We appreciate everyone doing their part to follow the rules and look out for one another.

Thanks for your attention to this matter!

We had a big elaborate post as well regarding back to school safety for tomorrow. However, Moundridge EMS said it pretty well. So we’ll just say…. “ditto”. We wish all USD423 staff and students a great school year!

*** New School Zone Speed Limit on East Cole St ***

Back to school is almost here, and the City is currently working on installing new school zone speed limit beacons on East Cole Street. This is a much-needed improvement for the safety of our students, families, and community. A big thank-you to our Electric Department for doing the installation!
⚠️ Please pay close attention to the new speed limit: The old school zone speed limit was 25 MPH. The new school zone speed limit has been reduced to 20 MPH.
As school gets ready to start, please slow down, stay alert, and help keep our kids safe! 🏫🚸

Thank you to everyone who helped make this Fourth of July weekend a safe and enjoyable celebration!

As a reminder, the permitted hours for discharging fireworks ended at midnight last night. Fireworks are no longer allowed within the city limits.

Please continue being a good neighbor by cleaning up any fireworks debris from your property and the surrounding area.

Thank you again for helping make this holiday safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone. 🇺🇸
