Let’s Build a Brighter Future for Roberts Ridge—Together!

Looking for a way to get involved, meet your neighbors, and have some fun while doing something good? There’s a place for you at Roberts Ridge Volunteer Fire Department!

We’re looking for community members to join our auxiliary group. Whether you’re retired, handy with tools, enjoy planning events, or just want to lend a hand, we’d love to have you involved. You don’t have to fight fires to make a difference!

Help with fundraisers, community events, firehouse upkeep, or maintenance projects that match your interests. Bring your ideas, share your skills, and enjoy the company of neighbors working toward a common goal.

We’re also excited about our vision for a new community building—a welcoming place for celebrations, gatherings, and making memories right here on the Ridge. We want you to be part of helping that vision become a reality.

No firefighting experience or training is required—just a willingness to help. Give the time you can. Every helping hand and fresh idea brings us closer to a brighter future for our community.

Come meet us, hear our ideas, and share yours! Join us Monday nights starting at 7 p.m.

Our mission is to bring neighbors together through service, fundraising, and community events while building friendships and a brighter future for Roberts Ridge. Let’s have some fun, do some good, and build something our community can be proud of!

ANNOUNCEMENT

👻 Roberts Ridge VFD Haunted Trail 👻

After three great years of scares, screams, and plenty of fun, we unfortunately have to announce that Roberts Ridge Volunteer Fire Department’s Haunted Trail will be canceled for 2026.

This was not an easy decision. Our Haunted Trail has become something we truly look forward to each year, and we know many of you have made it part of your Halloween tradition as well. Unfortunately, this year we simply don’t have enough members and volunteers available to put together and operate the trail the way we feel it should be.

We want everyone to know that this is only a one-year pause! 👻 We are already looking forward to bringing the Haunted Trail back in 2027, bigger, better, and scarier than ever!

We sincerely appreciate everyone who has supported our Haunted Trail over the past three years, whether you came through the trail, volunteered your time, helped spread the word, or simply supported Roberts Ridge VFD. ❤️🚒

Thank you for understanding, and we’ll see you in the dark in 2027! 🎃👻

Maintenance is one of the most important things we can do to preserve and prepare our trucks and equipment for the next call. It’s a must to make it last for a very long time. Your members have been diligently working on general PMs. We hired On Point Services to complete DOT inspections along with some heavy wrenching that was very much needed. Top notch professionals at a fair price

Marshall County Sheriff’s Office Launches Holiday Weekend Safety Operations

Beginning today and continuing through the 4th of July holiday weekend, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office will deploy enhanced patrols to protect residents and visitors and to ensure a safe, enjoyable celebration across our communities.

Deputies will be highly visible throughout the county and will focus on:

1. Traffic enforcement: Proactive stops and strict enforcement for both passenger and commercial vehicles, with special attention to impaired, aggressive, and distracted driving.

2. Community patrols: Frequent checks of businesses and neighborhoods; deputies will engage with residents to promote safety and deter crime.

3. Off-highway vehicle safety: Patrols along Big Wheeling and Fish Creek to ensure ATVs and UTVs are operated safely and legally.

Additional safety measures include:

DUI enforcement and sobriety patrols. Designated drivers and ride-share options are strongly encouraged.

Waterway awareness near creeks and crossings. Expect increased presence near popular gathering areas to ensure safety.

Emergency readiness. Deputies are equipped with first-aid supplies, AEDs, and Narcan.

Public reminders:

* Buckle up, slow down, and put the phone away.

* Don’t drink and drive; plan a sober ride.

* Keep pets secured and hydrated; high temperatures and fireworks can cause stress.

* Be respectful of private property and posted signs.

“As Sheriff, I want our county to have a fun but safe holiday weekend; deputies will be out in force - on the roads and in our neighborhoods. Your cooperation helps keep our community safe.”

For non-emergencies, contact the Sheriff’s Office at 304-843-1500, In an emergency, call 911.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July.

Sheriff Mike Dougherty
