Such a tragedy, that none of us ever want to experience. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone that this incident has touched!

Today, the Silver Rail Steam Engines find themselves in a darkness no child, family, or community should ever have to experience.

A steam engine draws upon the strength within to carry its passengers forward, even through the steepest climbs and darkest tunnels. And in moments of unimaginable sorrow, we, too, must reach deep within ourselves - drawing upon compassion, courage, love, and the strength to carry one another when the weight becomes too much to bear alone.

We cannot undo the heartbreak. We cannot replace the lives lost or take away the pain of those left grieving. But we can be a light in the darkness. We can surround those who are hurting with love, stand beside those who are struggling, and remind every child that they are not alone.

The Oregon Association Chiefs of Police stands with the families, students, educators, law enforcement officers, first responders, and the entire Bend community as they navigate the difficult days ahead.

To the Silver Rail Steam Engines: Even the darkest tunnels eventually give way to light. Until that light feels within reach again, know that you do not have to travel this difficult journey alone.

With heavy hearts and unwavering support,

Oregon Association Chiefs of Police

The Mt. Angel Police Department wants to send a giant THANK YOU to the residents and staff at the Mount Angel Towers! Thank you for inviting the Mount Angel & Monitor Fire District's, Mt. Angel Police Department, and Woodburn Ambulance to your First Responder Appreciation BBQ on June 24th. The food was awesome and we had a great time chatting with some of our most honored citizens and staff! The event was really well attended on the front lawn with the BBQ a blazing!

The “Thank You” banner signed by the residents and staff was amazing.

As stated by Mt. Angel Fire; "Events like this remind us why we love serving our community. You all made us feel truly valued!"

Thanks for the wonderful food and conversations! — we had an awesome time!

A huge THANK YOU to the wonderful residents and staff at Mount Angel Towers! ❤️
Thank you for inviting the Mount Angel & Monitor Fire District's, Mt. Angel Police Department, and our Emergency Services partners from Woodburn Ambulance to your BBQ on June 24th. The food was fantastic, the company was even better, and we truly appreciated the warm welcome on the front lawn.
We were especially touched by the beautiful handmade “Thank You” banner you created and had signed by so many residents. It means a lot to see that level of appreciation for the work our first responders do every day.
Events like this remind us why we love serving our community. You all made us feel truly valued!
Thank you again, Mount Angel Towers — we had a great time!

It is so awesome to recognize a member of our own team, making the community a better place!

YOU ROCK!
Kindness Citation MAPD-00034

Do you know one of those people that seem to be everywhere…Mt. Angel does! Meet Dave! He was recently spotted by Mt. Angel Deputy Chief Hall going about his daily duties. Dave is always on the go with a smile to share.

Deputy Chief Hall saw Dave stop in the middle of the road to pick up a large rock that had found its way into the middle of the roadway. He truly sees a need and fills a need keep drivers in the area safe and most likely from getting a flat tire or other damage.

Deputy Chief Hall was honored to issue Dave a well deserved Kindness Citation for all he does for the Mt. Angel community. Thank you for looking out for us each day. Keep impacting your community one kind act at a time!

Each May, our nation comes together to honor the courage, sacrifice and dedication of law enforcement officers. Originally established by presidential proclamation President John F. Kennedy in 1962, National Police Week includes Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th and a week of observances recognizing officers who have given their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to serve and protect our communities with dedication and courage. National Police week is both a time of solemn remembrance and a celebration of the men and women who serve with integrity and bravery every day. It reminds us that behind every badge is a story of service, sacrifice and family.

While it’s not possible for us to attend this memorial to honor those who protected and served their communities and “gave the ultimate sacrifice”, it is our duty to take a moment to remember and thank those who protect our great country every day. They put their lives in harm’s way to protect our citizens, and they deserve our deepest respect and gratitude. To display our respect for those whom “gave the ultimate sacrifice” we will Donn our mourning bands from midnight on May 10th, until midnight on the 15th of May, these dates coincide with “Police Week”. We proudly, with humility and honor serve.

Good Morning Mt. Angel! We find ourselves in possession of this gentle older sole, who was found wandering around the Middle School this morning. He is wearing a nice black harness for walks, but no tags. Can you help us find his home? If so, give us a call at 503-845-9294 and ask for Officer Harrell Jr. Thanks in advance!

Officer Harrell Jr. is hoping you have seen this dog before and can help us see that it makes it back home. Can you help? If so, call the Mt. Angel Police at 503-845-9294 as soon as possible so that we don't have to take it to Salem (dog jail). This wandering K-9 was found at Humpert Park. Thank you in advance!
