Today, Memorial Day, we honor our fallen soldiers. The CRO will be closed for the holiday.
The CRO has a simple but vital mission: to assist individuals and families, enabling them to maintain stability for their families on an emergency basis.
We are powered by volunteers and donations provided by the community we serve.

We had a great time at the Piedmont Arts and Cultural Experience this past weekend! We had food-themed coloring posters which participants filled in and put up on display, along with help from some local artists. Many thanks to the volunteers and everyone who got involved!

Tomorrow may be the easiest day ever to give to the CRO! It’s the USPS “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive. Just put your donation items by your mailbox and USPS will pick it up for your local food pantry!

A Mount Holly Middle School student made the artwork on these bags, and members of his class filled them with donations for our neighbors in need. We are blown away by this young person’s creativity and generous spirit. Talk about using your talents for service!

Our local Food Lion stores are a huge supporter of the CRO. They donate meat, bread and produce. Our volunteers go and pick them up from the Food Lion next door and from the one on Huntersville Rd, twice a week. Here are some pictures from a recent pickup. Thanks Food Lion!

We love all the creative ways people find in their hearts to help their neighbors in need. We also love the opportunity to give out the very best food available.
A local resident with chickens donated 32 lbs of eggs-- about 24 dozen! Neighbors got farm fresh eggs for days. Here is the last dozen going out.

Some of our neighbors need help because they have recently lost their jobs. This year the CRO is doing more to help people get back on their feet, starting by sharing resources from the Gaston Workforce Development Board.
In a couple weeks they are hosting a job fair at the Gaston County public library in Gastonia. If you’re in between positions, check it out!
Thank you to Beau Fortner for clearing our parking lot today. You saved some old men a lot of shoveling and sore backs (and maybe a heart attack). It was greatly appreciated.
Well, another week, another winter storm. And boy what a snow storm this was. I've lived here all my life and have never seen this much snow.
We will again be closed on Monday for the safety of our neighbors, volunteers and employees. As with last week, we hope to open on Wednesday depending on whether we can get the parking lot cleared and safe. Stay safe and warm.
