Yesterday afternoon, our firefighters quickly contained a commercial fire on Main Street near Dakin Avenue.
The Mount Kisco Fire Department was dispatched at 12:09 p.m. for an activated commercial alarm. Chief Hollis (Car 2281) arrived first on scene and encountered light smoke inside the business. Further investigation by our crews revealed heavy smoke pushing from the basement, prompting command to transmit a working fire signal (10-75).
Firefighters located an exterior fire at the rear of the building. Our members, alongside the Bedford Hills Fire Department, quickly knocked down and extinguished the flames before they could cause major structural damage. Other neighboring departments provided standby coverage for our district during the incident.
All units cleared the scene at 3:35 p.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Never Forget: A Tribute to the Heroes of 9/11 🇺🇸

Today marks the solemn anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. We pause to reflect on a day that changed our nation forever, keeping the victims and their families close in our hearts. We pay special tribute to the firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel who climbed the stairs and gave everything to protect others. Their courage inspires our department every time the tones drop. May we always remember their sacrifice, honor their memory, and live out the unity that brought our country together in the days that followed 🇺🇸

Everyone is welcomed to join us Friday as we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸

No Zamboni? No Problem. 🧊🚒
Yesterday, the Mt. Kisco Recreation Department reached out to the Mt. Kisco Fire Department for help improving ice conditions on Leonard Park Pond for skating.
Members from Station #3 Independent Fire Co. #13 , with assistance from Bedford Hills Fire Department Bedford Hills Fire Department (Tanker 5) and Katonah Fire Department Katonah Fire Department (Tanker 6), answered the call. Together, crews sprayed over 9,000 gallons of water onto the pond to help smooth and strengthen the ice.
The operation took more than 90 minutes to complete and was a great example of teamwork between departments.
⚠️ Safety Reminder: Do NOT go out onto the ice until officials have confirmed it is safe to do so.

**🚒 Help Us Help You: Adopt a Fire Hydrant 🚒**
It's been almost a week since the 12+ inch snowstorm. Many fire hydrants in town are still buried and hard to find.

In an emergency, every second counts—digging out a hydrant ahead of time can save critical minutes and help firefighters protect lives and property. If you see a hydrant near your home, please take a few minutes to clear snow and ice around it (about 3 feet on all sides).

Your help truly makes a difference. Thank you for helping keep our community safe! From the members of the Independent Fire Co. #13
