HYDRANT FLUSHING ~ Starting October 13, 2026.

The Mt. Morris Water Department will be flushing hydrants between the hours of 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. During these times, residents may experience low water pressure and rusty water. If you do experience rusty water, let your faucet run until it clears up.
If you have any other issues that arise, you can contact the Water Department directly @ 815-734-4820, or Village Hall @ 815-734-6425.

Nearly 50 cyclists from as far as Sun Prairie, WI, and the Chicago suburbs stopped by Mt. Morris for a quick break during last Saturday's Tour of Southern Ogle County (TOSOC) ride benefiting the Village of Progress. Our guests were taking the long route, 62 miles, and enjoyed a rest stop on our beautiful campus square. The Olson family from Madison, WI, showed us how to ride a quad tandem. Impressive!

Fall is a great time to enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of the season at local markets! Mt. Morris offers plenty of opportunities to browse local artisan goods, fresh produce and unique handmade finds.
The seasonal fun begins this Saturday, September 26, with the Back Roads Market! Several local businesses will be hosting talented artisans and showcasing unique handmade décor. Spend a few hours or make a day of it as you explore the participating businesses and support local.

Learn the art of pour painting with this class hosted by Encore Mt. Morris and Highland Community College on Saturday, September 19 beginning at 10 AM. Pour painting, also known as fluid art or acrylic pouring, is an abstract technique where fluid acrylic paints are mixed with thinning mediums and poured, tipped, or blown across a canvas. No art experience required and $45 covers your supplies.
