We want to extend a sincere thank you to CHS Mobile Integrated Healthcare and Steuben County Emergency Services for providing coverage for Livingston County EMS on Friday while our members attended the funeral of one of our own.

Their support gave our team the opportunity to come together, pay our respects, and support one another while ensuring our community continued to have EMS coverage.

The EMS community has always been one that steps up for each other when it matters. Different agencies and different communities, but ultimately the same mission. Friday was another reminder of that solidarity.

We are grateful to our partners at CHS and Steuben County for stepping in when we needed them. Thank you for taking care of our community while we took care of our own.

On Friday, September 4, family, friends, colleagues, and members of the EMS community gathered to say goodbye to Paramedic Supervisor Robert “Rob” Sparks.

At the conclusion of his service, Livingston County EMS recognized Rob and his years of service one final time.

For so many years, 6262 was more than a call sign. It represented a familiar voice on the radio, a trusted clinician, a supervisor, a mentor, and a friend who was always there when someone needed him.

Rob’s impact on Livingston County EMS and the people he served will remain with us for years to come.

It is with profound sadness that Livingston County EMS mourns the loss of Paramedic Supervisor Robert “Rob” Sparks, who passed away yesterday surrounded by his family.

Rob joined Livingston County EMS in 2011 as a paramedic and served in that role until 2014, when he became a Paramedic Supervisor. Throughout his career, Rob was an exceptional clinician, a dedicated leader, and, above all, someone who cared deeply about the people around him.

His commitment to helping others extended far beyond the ambulance. Whether it was an emergency call, a difficult situation, or simply a friend who needed a hand, Rob was someone you could count on. If you only had one call to make, you always knew Rob would answer.

Rob’s dedication to his profession and the people he served was recognized throughout his career. He received numerous awards and accolades for his clinical excellence, leadership, and commitment to EMS, including being named New York State Paramedic of the Year.

For more than a decade, 6262 was the voice on the radio, the supervisor on the other end of the phone, and a familiar presence to countless members of our department and community.

Today, we say goodbye to a colleague, a leader, a mentor, and a friend.

We extend our deepest condolences to Rob’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

🏆️ Distinguished Service Award: Robert Sparks 🏆️

Join us in honoring Robert Sparks, Livingston County EMS Shift Supervisor and Paramedic, the recipient of this month's Livingston County Distinguished Service Award!

Rob joined LCEMS in 2011 and has served as Shift Supervisor since 2017. Throughout his career, Rob has consistently provided the highest levels of patient care, advancing from EMT-Critical Care Technician to EMT-Paramedic, and currently pursuing certification as a Specialty Care Transport Paramedic.

He was named the Monroe-Livingston EMS Region Advanced Life Support Provider of the Year in 2021. Later that same year, he received one of the profession’s highest honors when he was named the New York State Advanced Life Support Provider of the Year.

Thank you, Rob, for your unwavering leadership, compassion, and outstanding service to the residents of Livingston County!
