Around 1134, companies 1 and 4 were dispatched to 2645 Perkiomen Ave in the borough for an automatic fire alarm. Deputy 1-1, Ladder 1, and Engine 1 went responding and was advised that there was a call from the premise advising that there was smoke in the basement. The assignment was upgraded bringing in additional units. Crews arrived and confirmed smoke in the basement. After investigation, the issue was determined to be from a newly installed heating system. The assignment was scaled back to 1 and 25 while crews ventilated, metered, and packed hose.

Just before 12:30 today, E1 was dispatched, with several other mutual aid companies on the second alarm to assist the city with a structure fire on S 19th St. Crews assisted with extensive overhaul & were able to clear shortly after 1p.m.

Just after clearing the city, crews investigated a possible CO problem on N 25th St. in Mt. Penn. No readings were found.

For our weekly Tuesday night training, crews practiced vehicle rescue which included door removal, roof removal, and dash lifts. Our newer members had the opportunity to see the full capabilities of some of the rescue equipment that we carry. We are always looking for people to join our team! Safe Charging is a Superpower-Fire Prevention Week 2026

The Mt. Penn Fire Company along with multiple mutual aid departments assisted the police department from this afternoon into the night with an incident in Mt. Penn. We are releasing no other information
