Caring for animals isn't all fun and games!

Agriscience students work hard keeping the barn clean, safe, and healthy. That means cleaning pens, replacing bedding, feeding and watering, checking animals, maintaining equipment and supplies, and tackling all of the everyday jobs that come with caring for livestock.

And animals do not follow a school calendar!

Our students understand that responsibility doesnโ€™t end when the bell rings. They work together to make sure chores are covered every day, including weekends. These students willingly give up their own time to come in and care for the animals.

It may not be the most glamorous part of Animal Science, but it might be one of the most important. Students are learning firsthand that working with animals requires consistency, teamwork, dedication, attention to detail, and a whole lot of hard work.

๐Ÿก๐Ÿ“ Big ideas start small in GI-TEC Interior Design!

Our Interior Design students are kicking off a favorite project: Shoebox House Floor Plans! ๐Ÿ โœจ

First, students take precise measurements and scale them down to fit their shoebox-sized homes, putting their plans on paper before bringing their designs to life.
Next comes the fun part! Students will transform their floor plans into miniature homes complete with walls, furniture, appliances, and thoughtful design details. From colors and fabrics to decor and functionality, every choice helps create a space that looks beautiful and feels like home.

At GI-TEC, starting small creates BIG opportunities to turn interior design concepts into reality! ๐ŸŽจ๏ฟฝ

๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ“š The next generation of educators is stepping into the classroom!

Today, GI-TEC Educational Careers students begin their Teacher Cadet placements in classrooms across the area! ๐ŸŽ‰

These aspiring educators are ready to take on supportive roles, learn what itโ€™s really like to be in a classroom, and make a positive impact on the learning experiences of young students. ๐Ÿ’™

With placements 3 days a week, students will put their knowledge into action, applying what they learn in their GI-TEC classroom to real-world teaching experiences.

Weโ€™re excited to see these future educators grow in confidence, build valuable skills, and discover the rewards of helping students learn and succeed! ๐ŸŽโœจ

๐ŸŽจโš™๏ธ Who says machining canโ€™t be art?

GI-TEC first-year Machine Trades students are putting their creativity to work! One of their first projects is designing and machining their own Tic-Tac-Toe boards, taking their ideas from computer-aided design (CAD) software to real, hands-on creations they can hold, play with, and challenge their classmates to a game of Xโ€™s and Oโ€™s! โŒโญ•

When asked why one student chose Machine Trades, their answer? โ€œIt was one way to get my art credit!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚

And honestly, thatโ€™s not a bad reason! From creative designs on a computer screen to precisely machined pieces in their hands, these students are discovering that technical skills and artistic talent go hand in hand.

At GI-TEC, learning a trade means more than working with machines. Itโ€™s about creativity, problem-solving, precision, and turning ideas into something real. ๐Ÿ”งโœจ

Design it. Machine it. Play for keeps! ๐ŸŽฏ

Construction Trades students at the Alma Campus have gained some woodworking skills building corn hole boards!

The three sets pictured are available now, and students can build up to 5 additional sets! Choose a design for your custom set, or have the boards left blank so you can paint or customize them yourself. Design choices are pictured.

Each set is constructed with select grade lumber and pocket hole joinery, then finished with durable paint and primer. The playing surfaces receive three coats of polycrylic, and finished designs feature weather resistant decals. All sets include 8 regulation size bags.

Building isn't all fun and games...students are learning precision measuring, woodworking, Kreg Jig and pocket hole assembly, finishing techniques, problem solving, and attention to detail. These are the same foundational skills they'll use in construction and other skilled trades careers.

Each finished set is $210, unfinished sets are $160.

Chicks have arrived!

Over the next several weeks, Agriscience students will be raising chickens from just a few days old all the way through processing.

Students are responsible for all animal daily care. They will weigh and monitor the chicks, introduce them to food and water, maintain a clean and healthy environment, and keep daily records as they track growth and development.

Along the way, students will learn about:

Proper handling and animal care
Feed, nutrition, and water requirements
Brooding, temperature, and environmental needs
Animal health, welfare, and biosecurity
Weight gain, growth rates, and recordkeeping
The role agriculture plays in our food supply

Once the chickens reach the appropriate size and age, students will take them to a processing facility, where they will learn how poultry is safely and responsibly processed and prepared for consumers. The finished chickens will then be available for purchase.

These chicks sure are cute!

The Alma Campus Welding Class would like to thank Scott from Stanley Black & Decker for stopping by and demonstrating the DEWALT ATOMIC 20V MAX Cordless 4-1/2" Angle Grinder!

Our students appreciated the opportunity to see the tool demonstrated and learn more about its features and applications in the welding industry.
