Nick has become an invaluable part of our team. Throughout his first year here, he has worked several high stress incidents, one resulting in a custom thank you plaque proudly displayed at our center.

When he is not being the calm voice in an emergency, you can find Nick assembling Legos or playing video games with family or hiding out with a good book with their two cats.

Nick can be a man of few words in everyday conversation when asked; What is your favorite part about your job? His answer is straight to the point. " Helping People. "

๐Ÿšจ 911 Tip Tuesday: Functional Needs Form

Did you know that Lawrence County Emergency Services has a Functional Needs Form available on our website?

If you or someone in your household has a functional impairment or may need additional assistance during an emergency, completing this form can help first responders better understand those needs before they arrive.

What information does the form ask for?

๐Ÿ“‹ Personal Information

Name, address, birthday, and phone number
Emergency contacts

โ™ฟ Functional and Medical Needs

Visual impairments, cognitive impairments, hearing or speech difficulties
Mobility assistance needs, such as a wheelchair, walker, or cane
Dependence on electricity for medical equipment, such as a ventilator or life-support system
Transportation needs, including wheelchair-accessible transport or stretcher assistance

๐Ÿ  Home Access Information

Lockboxes or hidden key locations
Safe room or storm shelter locations
Other important instructions that may help responders safely access the home

Why is this important?

We sometimes receive 911 calls from individuals who have fallen and cannot get up, but their doors are locked. If responders have no way to enter, they may have to take additional steps to gain access. Having lockbox or hidden key information available can help responders reach someone in need while potentially avoiding unnecessary property damage.

This information helps us prepare for situations where someone may need additional assistance during an emergency. The information submitted through this form is not shared with the public.

๐Ÿ’™ A little preparation can make a big difference when every second counts.

Visit the Lawrence County Emergency Services website to locate and complete the Functional Needs Form. Consider sharing this information with family members, friends, or neighbors who may benefit from it.
