Chinook Enterprises Chinook Enterprises is a Social Enterprise. Our mission is to support full participation in community life for people with disabilities or other barriers.

Chinook is where Abilities meet Opportunities. Chinook Enterprises is a social enterprise – we are a non-profit designed to operate as a business, but with a social mission: Supporting full participation in community life for people with disabilities or other barriers. Full participation must start with successful employment. We believe that the need to be connected with one’s community and to be a responsible citizen is at the core of each person. Each of us can relate to the importance of having a place to contribute…to feel valued… and for most of us, that means a job. For many people with disabilities, finding that place can be challenging. Barriers to employment success are varied and include inadequate transportation, lack of experience, communication challenges, community acceptance and more. With help and support, these barriers can be minimized and dreams realized.

Learning, planning, and connecting with others in the field made for a great (CEA) Conference! 💡🤝

Last week, members of the Chinook team had the opportunity to explore how AI is changing the way we work, think ahead and plan for the years to come, and collaborate in small groups to tackle challenges and brainstorm solutions for different areas of our programs.

Events like this give us a chance to step outside our day-to-day work, learn from others, share ideas, and bring fresh thinking back to Chinook. We’re excited to put some of that inspiration into action! 💙✨

As a member of the Wire Shop team, Janice has put in the effort to learn the many different aspects of the department and continues to build her skills with care and attention to detail. Her strong work ethic and commitment to producing quality work make her a valued part of the team.

Seventeen years of growth, dedication, and trying new things is definitely worth celebrating! 🌿

Cesar is celebrating his 17-year anniversary with Chinook's Grounds team. Over the years, he has become a valued member of the crew, keeping landscaping projects and properties looking their best.

Throughout his time at Chinook, Cesar has continued to expand his skills, learning to safely operate a variety of landscaping power tools and pushing himself to take on new challenges. His willingness to learn, grow, and contribute has made a lasting impact on the team.

Thank you, Cesar, for 17 years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. We're grateful for all you do and proud to celebrate this milestone with you!

What started as an idea is becoming something really special. 🎨💙

Chinook team members and customers recently partnered with the Mount Vernon Police Department - WA (MVPD) on the first phase of a new mural project. MVPD generously provided the supplies, while our staff brought creative ideas to the table and worked together to bring the design to life.

Our customers have also played an important part, contributing their time, creativity, and support throughout the project. It’s been a true community collaboration, and we love seeing all the pieces come together.

This is only Part 1! The finished mural is planned to be installed later this month, and we can’t wait to share the final result. 🖌️✨

Shutdown Day is about more than stepping away from our usual work for the day. It’s a chance for our team to come together, learn, connect, and strengthen our shared commitment to inclusion and accessibility. 💙♿️

This year, we were grateful to welcome speakers from Microsoft Inclusive Tech Lab and the Seattle The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc., who shared their knowledge and perspectives with our team. Their presentations gave us an opportunity to learn more about accessibility, inclusive technology, and creating spaces and opportunities that work for everyone.

Of course, Shutdown Day also included plenty of time for team building, good food, activities, and a few laughs along the way! 🎉📸

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day meaningful, educational, and fun and for Northwest Career & Technical Academy for hosting our event and catering.
