Tolle Lane Update

The start date for this project has been a bit of a moving target, as it often is in construction. The crew that is performing the Tolle Lane paving is the same crew completing the Route 15 work. Due to construction issues, the Route 15 work has been extended until next Tuesday and then they intend to move to the Tolle Lane project. Tentative start date is now next Wednesday, September 9th.

Jefferson County is currently rehabilitating a structure on Dix-Texico Road in Texico, approximately 2 miles east of Dix. The road will be closed to all traffic for the duration of the project. The contractor is allowed 40 working days for completion. Attached is a location map and the available alternate routes for this project.

Jefferson County is scheduled to begin asphalt paving operations on Tolle Lane next Wednesday, August 26th. This project extends for 5.5 miles, from Miller Lake Road to Breezeway Road. The contractor is allowed 20 working days to complete this project. Flaggers will be present and traffic will be allowed through the construction zone during construction. Please consider alternate routes or allow extra time to arrive at your destination during this time.

Project Updates

Wells Bypass Bridge is scheduled to be paved and guardrail installed Thursday and Friday of this week and shoulder work is scheduled for early next week. We anticipate the project to be substantially complete and the road open to traffic by the middle of next week.

Mayflower Lane Bridge in Field Township is scheduled to begin next Monday, July 20th. This involves removal and reconstruction of the bridge located approximately 1/2 mile north of Dix-Texico Road. This project is scheduled to last approximately one month.

Pumphouse Lane paving from Tolle Lane to George Street is also scheduled to begin next Monday, July 20th. This project should be completed within 1-2 weeks. The road will be closed to all traffic except for local residents during construction.

Angling Road Bridge remains under construction. Dirt work and road reconstruction is ongoing.

Additional major projects slated for the coming months include a Bridge Deck replacement on Dix-Texico Road in Texico and paving of Tolle Lane from Miller Lake to Breezeway Road. We will update you when those projects move forward.

Beginning next Monday, June 1, Wells Bypass Road near Veterans Drive will be closed for a bridge replacement. This project is scheduled for 30 working days. Please plan an alternate route during this time. Attached is a location map and preferred detour route.

This project is the first phase of upcoming Wells Bypass safety improvements. Roadway widening, paving and intersection improvements at the Mount Vernon Township High School are scheduled for Summer 2027.

Attention: Notice of Road Closure - Dix-Texico Road

The Jefferson County Highway Department intends to close Dix-Texico Road in Texico this Thursday, March 12 from 7AM to 4PM. The purpose of this closure is for tree removal in preparation for an upcoming bridge construction project. Please consider alternate routes during this time.
