🎉 Congratulations to our partner, Redwood Middle School, on being named a 2026 California Distinguished School!

This prestigious recognition honors schools across the state that demonstrate exemplary student outcomes, including academic achievement and progress for historically underserved student groups.

We are so proud to celebrate Redwood after many years of partnering to support student mental health and social-emotional learning. This recognition is a wonderful validation of the supportive environment Principal Steve Hamm has built and the caring, connected campus community we are proud to help foster.
Principal Steve Hamm shared:

“I am so incredibly proud of the heart our students, staff, and families bring to Redwood Middle School every single day. Being named a California Distinguished School is a huge honor, but it really just confirms what I already knew: our entire community is truly the real deal. This achievement is a beautiful reflection of our shared commitment to excellence and the unique spirit that makes us Redwood.”

We’re honored to be part of the Redwood community and celebrate this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations, Redwood!

October 10 is World Mental Health Day, a day to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. The World Health Organization (WHO)’s theme this year is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.”

World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to meaningfully engage with people with lived experience (PWLE) of mental health conditions and to recognize their knowledge as a vital form of expertise. This year’s campaign calls for their voices to shape the policies, services and decisions that affect their lives.

October is Filipino American History Month! This month, we celebrate the rich history, vibrant culture, and lasting contributions of Filipino Americans, the second-largest Asian American ethnic group in the United States.

On October 18, 1587, the first recorded landing of Filipinos in what is now the continental United States took place in Morro Bay, California, when Filipino sailors arrived aboard a Spanish galleon. Their stories and contributions continue to shape our nation’s history and culture.

Join us in honoring the history, celebrating the achievements, and uplifting the voices of the Filipino American community. Explore these resources to learn more:

Our September newsletter is here!

September is Su***de Prevention Month, and this month’s feature article, “Su***de Prevention: Recognize the Signs, Start the Conversation, and Connect with Care,” offers practical guidance for recognizing when someone may be struggling and learning how to respond with compassion and care.

With 34% of Santa Clara County high school students reporting feelings of sadness or hopelessness lasting more than two weeks in the past year, creating supportive environments where young people feel seen, heard, and connected is more important than ever.
