Thank you to the volunteers from Compassion Week Los Altos for the time you spent and the joy you brought to our participants at Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center! From the Elvis Presley tunes on the piano to the community-focused art activities and ice cream sundaes, we felt your kindness of spirit and your commitment to our community.

In honor of National Adult Day Services Week, we'd like to celebrate the relationships we forge at Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center. Our day-caring program promotes independence and provides stimulating activities in a comfortable and caring environment. Participants like Cui Rong Chen found that she could easily learn new things, find new friends, and grow her passions. Read more of Cui Rong Chen's story:

Cherished Memories—Cui Rong Chen and the Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center - Avenidas Cui Rong Chen, lovingly called Chen Chen, was one of our cherished participants at the Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center. After Chen Chen’s passing, her family visited to express their gratitude for the Center and the dedication of its staff.

Thank you to the program aides at ARKC for bringing comfort and joy to our participants and sharing your stories! Mary told us that her motivation to work here is, “The beautiful people and beautiful memories and knowing that I have a purpose just having those one-on-one conversations with them…[it] is what keeps me going and coming back.”

We asked Eileen what she loves about working at Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center, and she answered, ”Occasionally I get to dress like a hippie and make flower headbands—what’s not to love? Seriously, we have a lot of fun while keeping people safe and smiling, whether it’s music and crafts or bingo and gardening. My coworkers are wonderful people and we work together for the good of the participants.“

ARKC aides described for us why they felt called to work with older adults. Andrea shared, “On what would have been my mom‘s 90th birthday —since I was living in the U.S. and she in Germany, I was not able to spend much time with her—I can honor my mother through caring for people who need care now.”

When we asked Mercy what drew her to her work at Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center, she said, “I want to give back my time and human kindness. The best way is to connect with older generations. I find the most uplifting moments are dancing with participants.”

Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center: Care with Dignity in Mountain View Day-CARING. The Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center is a licensed adult day health center & adult day care program in Mountain View.

On any given day at Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center, you see a flurry of activity—watercolor painting on one side of the room and noodle hockey on the other side of the room—and the group of individuals who orchestrate it all are the aides.
We asked Polly what she loves about her work, and she replied, “One of the most remarkable things about Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center is that it brings together such a diverse group of people. We‘re culturally, linguistically, economically, and generationally diverse. We also represent a wide range of cognitive and physical abilities. Everyone feels included and loved here.”

Join us for this FREE workshop for adult children, older adults, and family caregivers and learn how to make a plan before a medical crisis. Geriatrician Dr. Marina Martin will lead a 60-minute talk, with Q&A to follow. This event is free for all, but RSVPs are required.

Spring is in the air for these participants at Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center! Thanks to the 2024 Mitzvah Day volunteers of Oshman Family JCC, these bright flowers continue to bring joy.

Being a sports fan is age-agnostic! Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center participants rally together for the , cheering for their hometown team !

The Los Altos Town Crier features the community service of Matthew Huang of Boy Scouts of America Troop 30, who crafted a bench and enhanced a quiet outdoor space for the participants and staff at Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center to enjoy. The Mountain View High School sophomore said he put more than 100 hours of work into planning meetings, sourcing materials and building the bench.
