Staff. Sgt. Trevor Arnold, an aircrew flight equipment technician assigned to the 176th Wing, Alaska Air National Guard in Anchorage, Alaska, received a Lifesaving Citation from Mountain View Police Department today after saving a wounded person from a burning vehicle.

On the morning of February 16th, Arnold was returning from the 129th Rescue Wing when he witnessed a vehicle collide with a tree. The vehicle became engulfed in flames, trapping the unconscious driver inside. Arnold quickly sprung into action, breaking the driver’s window with his bare hands and using a knife to deflate the airbag and cut the seatbelt before pulling the driver out of the vehicle and dragging him to safety. Three other Airmen assigned to the 176th Wing were also at the scene, calling for emergency services and helped move the driver to safety.

Staff Sgt. Trevor Arnold, along with Staff Sgt. Hanna Ziemer, Senior Master Sgt. Chris Tidwell, and Senior Airman Teleso Tuuaga, all demonstrated exceptional bravery and commitment to the preservation of life, exemplifying the Air Force’s core values of Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence in All We Do.
