đźš’ HELP CBFR UPGRADE OUR RESCUE EQUIPMENT
Copper Basin Fire & Rescue has a rare opportunity to significantly upgrade the equipment our volunteers use to rescue people trapped in vehicles following serious crashes.

A fire department in Iowa is currently auctioning a set of four HURST battery-powered extrication tools through GovDeals. The package includes a cutter, spreader, two combination tools, seven batteries, two corded power units, and an equipment mount.

These are the tools firefighters use to cut, spread, and move damaged portions of a vehicle to reach someone trapped inside.
The equipment was in service with the selling fire department until recently and is reported to be operational. CBFR currently relies on older hydraulic extrication equipment, so acquiring this package would represent a significant upgrade in our rescue capabilities.

⏰ But we have to move quickly. The auction ends Friday, September 18 at 11:45 a.m.

One of our own firefighters has already personally pledged $5,000 toward the purchase. CBFR is also exploring available department and county funding, but community support could help make this opportunity possible.

đź’› WANT TO HELP?
We have created a donation option specifically for this project.
Every dollar donated through this link will be designated for CBFR extrication/rescue equipment.
If we are successful in purchasing this HURST equipment, your donation will help fund the acquisition and getting the equipment ready for service.
If we are not successful with this particular auction, your donation will remain designated for CBFR extrication equipment and help us pursue another opportunity.
There is no donation too small. $10, $25, $50, $100 — it adds up.

You can also scan the QR code included with this post.
We hope we rarely need these tools.
But when someone is trapped in a vehicle, we want our volunteers to have reliable equipment ready to go when every minute matters.
Please consider donating — and please SHARE this post. Even if you aren't able to contribute, sharing it may put it in front of someone who can.

Thank you for continuing to support the volunteers of Copper Basin Fire & Rescue. ❤️

At approximately 12:00 a.m. on September 8, 2026, Monroe County Emergency Services - 911 received a report of a missing 21-year-old male hiker in the area of Bald River Falls and the Henderson Trail. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Turkey Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and additional law enforcement partners responded and began searching near the hiker’s last known phone location.
Around 3:30 a.m., the hiker’s phone was found on Henderson Trail. At 5:00 a.m., Monroe County Emergency Management activated its Incident Management Team to coordinate a full search effort. Numerous Monroe County first responders, fire departments, neighboring counties, and Tri-State Mutual Aid Association members joined the search.
Shortly after 11:00 a.m., a canine team from Etowah Fire located the missing hiker walking down Bald River Trail toward his vehicle. He was found safe and declined medical treatment.
Monroe County Emergency Management extends our sincere thanks to all responding first responders, partner agencies, and Tri-State Mutual Aid Association members for their dedication and teamwork in helping bring this hiker home safely.

Also, I want to thank Papa's pizza of Tellico Plains for providing our responders lunch for no charge. They are always willing to help when we are in need. Thank You!!!
