We want to wish our #2 in command, Chief Deputy Thomas Marshall, a very happy birthday. We appreciate everything he does for our staff and our facility — he is one that every staff member knows they can go to for advice, guidance and assistance whether it’s on the job or off duty.

Happy Birthday Thomas! 🎉 🎂

Calloway County Jail is proud to announce that Deputy Justin Hutson is taking on the role of Jail Investigator & Disciplinary Hearing Officer!

In this position, Deputy Hutson will take on several important responsibilities that help maintain the safety, security, and accountability of our facility. His duties will include conducting internal investigations, handling criminal investigations, reviewing and investigating incident reports submitted by staff members, and appearing in court proceedings when necessary.

We are excited to see Deputy Hutson grow and succeed in this new role. As he steps into these responsibilities, he will be attending additional training to further develop his investigative skills and knowledge. He will also have the opportunity to learn from local detectives and our local prosecuting attorney’s, who have generously offered their time and expertise to help him better understand investigative procedures and court proceedings.

We appreciate the commitment, professionalism, and willingness to learn that Deputy Hutson brings to our team. We look forward to seeing him continue to develop professionally and make a positive impact at Calloway County Jail.

Today Lieutenant Black was out in the community at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murray to participate with Little Hands Storytime for their annual Community Helper Touch-A-Truck event. He gave out some of our new Calloway County Jail replica badge stickers and lots of candy to all the kids. We hope everyone had a great time!

Last week we wished Part-Time Deputy Jailer Kay Ferguson a happy retirement (again) as she officially turned in her uniforms and left Calloway County Jail for good. Back in 2019 she officially retired from the jail but then returned later to work part-time because she said she loved to be at work (her words, not ours). Deputy Ferguson, or better known and Miss Kay or Granny by our staff, will be greatly missed around the jail. We hope she takes this time to relax and take care of herself after a well-deserved retirement.

Update: Suspect has been caught and is in police custody now!

Our thoughts and prayers are going out to the Kentucky State Police and the friends and family of Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369, who was killed in the line of duty while serving the citizens in Warren County, KY. The men and women of law enforcement risk their lives every day serving and protecting our communities across our country. We hope the individual who chose to take the life of this young man is caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Prayers for the law enforcement who are working to bring justice to Trooper Phillips family! 🙏🏻

🎒PACKING WITH A PURPOSE —— COMMUNITY SUPPORT 📚

The Calloway County Jail would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. & Mrs. Jim Taylor, members of our Calloway County community, for their generous donation of 100 miniature Bibles to support our Packing With A Purpose backpack program. ⛪️

These Bibles will be included in backpacks provided to individuals who are being released from our facility and transitioning back into our community. Along with hygiene items, snacks, resource information, and other necessities, these backpacks are intended to provide practical support as individuals begin their next chapter outside of incarceration. Mr. & Mrs. Taylor shared their hope that these Bibles will help guide the men and women receiving them toward making positive choices and finding a better path in life.

We are grateful for community members who recognize that successful reentry takes more than simply walking out the jail doors. It takes support, resources, encouragement, and a community willing to invest in second chances.

Thank you for supporting the Calloway County Jail!
