A Crossroads + Senior Resources mash-up made for a whole lot of Friday fun!

A group from Crossroads Day Hab turned a stop at our Senior Resources offices into an afternoon of fun when they joined our Adult Day Center participants for a few rounds of BINGO!

There was plenty of friendly competition, laughter, and conversation as everyone got in on the action.

Senior Resources offers free, unbiased, one-on-one counseling through SHIIP, Iowaโ€™s Medicare resource. Our trained volunteer SHIIP counselors can help Medicare-eligible adults review their current coverage, understand their options, and make informed decisions during Open Enrollment.

If you know Senior Resources, chances are you know Laura. For 14 years, she has been a source of knowledge, compassion, patience, and support for seniors and families throughout our community.

Laura is truly the heart of our programs. Through Outreach, she helps seniors navigate resources and challenges so they can continue living the independent lives they deserve. Behind the scenes, she also shares her experience and support across our other programs, helping all of Senior Resources better serve our community.

We often say Lauraโ€™s patience is her superpower, and anyone who has worked with her knows why. She listens, she cares, and she will keep working to help someone find the support they need.

Fourteen years represents countless seniors and families who have been helped because Laura was there. We simply canโ€™t say enough about what she means to Senior Resources.

A hot, nutritious meal is an important part of every delivery, but so is the friendly face that comes to the door.

For some of the older adults we serve, a Meals on Wheels volunteer may be one of the people they can count on seeing that day. That quick visit provides connection, conversation, and an extra set of eyes making sure everything seems okay.
It can also offer a little extra reassurance to family members who may not be able to check in every day.

Thatโ€™s why Meals on Wheels is about more than food. Itโ€™s one more way Senior Resources helps older adults remain connected, supported, and independent in the homes they love. โค๏ธ

All this rain has lawns growing quickly, and Senior Resources is looking for Chore Workers to help senior homeowners keep up with their lawn care.

For many older adults, mowing and outdoor chores can become difficult to manage. A few hours of your time can help a neighbor maintain their yard and continue living safely and independently in the home they love.

The Adult Day Center recently introduced new visual puzzles and interactive brain games designed to put problem-solving skills to work.

What may look like a straightforward activity can give the brain quite a workout! Working through colorful puzzles encourages creativity while exercising concentration, problem-solving, visual processing, and spatial reasoning. And when all the pieces finally come together, thereโ€™s a wonderful sense of accomplishment.

Activities like these give participants an opportunity to challenge their minds at their own pace while staying engaged and having fun.

Our team is always looking for new ways to keep participants active and engaged, and you can expect to see even more activities like this added to the Adult Day Center!

A loose grab bar. A dripping faucet. A furnace filter that needs changed. Gutters that need cleaned. A screen that needs repaired.
