A center for grieving children and families located in Northwest Alabama.

Before The Healing Place the majority of the children/teens:

Have difficulty talking about the deceased loved one/death of loved one
Experience anger, guilt
Have difficulty sleeping
Have a hard time concentrating on schoolwork
Feel alone, like they are the only one grieving

After The Healing Place the majority of the children/teens:

Are able to talk about the death of their loved one
Learn healthy ways to resolve anger and guilt
Sleeping improves
Schoolwork improves
Do not feel alone anymore

✨THANK YOU THURSDAY✨

We have a super special Thank You Thursday to highlight today! We must extend a massive and heartfelt THANK YOU to LSB Industries for making The Healing Place the beneficiary of their 2nd annual LSB Industries Golf Tournament.

LSB Industries, in partnership with community donors, sponsors, and supporters, raised over $11,000 for The Healing Place. These funds will go directly to serving area children and families who have suffered a loss. We truly cannot express the appropriate amount of gratitude to LSB Industries for this amazing event and contribution.

We must also give a super special shoutout to LSB Industries employee and member of The Healing Place Family, Denise Garcia. Denise has been an incredible supporter and advocate of The Healing Place and was paramount in making the LSB Industries Golf Tournament a success.

Again we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for helping us bring hope and healing to the hearts of children and families who have experienced a loss.

🎃Join us for Halloween Movie Night🎃

👻THP families both past and present are invited to join us for a Halloween event on October 29th from 5:30pm-8:30pm.

👻We will be showing Casper (1995) outside (weather permitting) on our 20ft inflatable movie screen!

👻 We will also have snacks, treats, and more!

👻 BE SURE to bring a lawn chair / blanket to watch the movie!

‼️GROUP NIGHT IS THURSDAY‼️

💙 We are so excited to see everyone THURSDAY (October 22nd) for a Grief Support Group!

💙 Group will begin at 5:30 with dinner!

💙 At 6pm we will separate into our four age groups: littles, middles, teens, and adults.

💙 Group will end at 7pm! Please be ready for pick-up at 7.

💙 We would love to have any children and families in need of grief support join us!

THP is offering an Adult Grief Support Group TODAY, Monday, October 19th, at 12 pm.

This group is open to ANY adult who has or is experiencing grief. This group is in addition to our bi-weekly all ages support group. Any adults are welcome to join us regardless of type of loss or previous THP involvement. We hope to continue offering this group monthly to meet the need of adults experiencing grief in our community.

🌟THP has a snack shortage! We are hoping some of our friends and supporters can help us out!

🌟We are currently accepting donations for snack food items to be available for our children and families when they visit us! Most snack food items will do- if your kids like it, ours probably will too!

🌟To donate: Order directly from our Amazon Wishlist and items will be delivered directly to us OR drop off any items at our office in Muscle Shoals! We are located at 2409 Wildwood St. Muscle Shoals, AL 35661. Our office hours are Monday-Thursday from 9-3. If you need to drop off items at a different time, feel free to message us so we can make sure someone is available!

🎗️While we are always working towards normalizing the conversation around Mental Health at The Healing Place, we know that guilt, shame, and blame still play huge roles in keeping individuals from getting the help and support they need.

🎗️Today we encourage everyone to have open and honest conversations about mental health and how it is impacted.

We know that:

🎗️1 in 5 young people (age 13-18) has or will develop mental illness in their lifetime.
🎗️1 in 15 people attempt su***de.
🎗️1 in 5 people struggle with suicidal thoughts
🎗️Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide

🎗️We send love and support to anyone who struggles with mental health and remind you all that The Healing Place is always here to help.
