NACOLGโ€™s 4th Annual Bus Roadeo is Coming Up!

Weโ€™re excited to host our 4th Annual Bus Roadeo on November 5, 2026, in partnership with Northwest Shoals Community College and Crown Consulting Group!

This annual event brings together transportation professionals for a day of friendly competition, fellowship, and valuable training exercises focused on driver knowledge and skills.

Along with NACOLG and Lawrence County Public Transportation, we look forward to welcoming representatives from Alabama Department of Transportation - ALDOT, OPT, RTAP, and members of the NACOLG team for this special event.

The day will include a general knowledge test, a walk-around of the course, driving challenges, lunch, and an awards presentation recognizing participantsโ€™ achievements.

Weโ€™re grateful for the partnerships that make opportunities like this possible and look forward to another successful year of learning, teamwork, and friendly competition!

Sheffield has been awarded a $๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฌ,๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ฏ๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—”๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฎ ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜ for paving in and around our three-school campus! With just over $137,000 in local matching funds, thatโ€™s nearly half a million dollars going toward improving the streets serving our schools and the surrounding neighborhoods.

After applying year after year, this is Sheffieldโ€™s first award through the Rebuild Alabama Annual Grant Program. This one means a lot, and Iโ€™m excited to share it with you!

The project includes ๐—˜๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜ ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฌ๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿญ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐˜๐˜€, ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—˜๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜ ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿด๐˜๐—ต, ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿต๐˜๐—ต, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿญ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—”๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€, totaling 1.55 miles of resurfacing.

Our schools are one of our most visible calling cards and greatest sources of pride. The school system is already making a significant investment in our campuses, and improving the streets leading to and connecting them builds on that work. Our students, teachers, families and neighbors deserve surroundings that reflect how much this community cares about its schools.

This also continues the paving completed last year and adds to the separate Jackson Highway, the remainder of 2nd Street and South Montgomery Avenue are planned to follow in 2028 and 2029. Thereโ€™s still plenty to do, but these projects are beginning to connect.
