Some of our science students had the opportunity to get "lost" in the Manistee forest and try to survive.

Armed with only a backpack containing a tarp, paracord, 2 empty 1L bottles, a knife, a trowel, 15 waterproof matches, a metal cup and a first aid kit they had to create a water filter, a shelter and forage for food in order to survive for 3 days.

Some survived and some were definitely going to be food for the bears 🐻🏕️

Luckily, an old man (Ms Amanda's dad) happened to be walking in the woods and helped out with starting some fire when they ran out of matches.

Nick then came by and took us all for a ride in the trails.

IT’S TIME TO GET BACK ON TRACK!

We’ve noticed a little dip in attendance and engagement over the past couple of weeks—and now it’s time to get things back on the rails!

📅 October 5–8
🎯 ATTENDANCE & ENGAGEMENT CHALLENGE

Here’s how it works: The more you’re here. The more you participate. The more you can WIN!

Throughout the week, students will have opportunities to earn raffle tickets for things like:
✅ Showing up
✅ Participating
✅ Getting your work done
✅ Staying engaged
✅ Making progress toward your goals

We’ll draw for some great prizes, including gift cards to local restaurants, Bluetooth headphones, and more on MONDAY October 12th!

You can’t win if you’re not here—and the more you do, the more tickets you earn!

Let’s bring the energy back. Let’s show up. Let’s get engaged. Let’s finish strong.

October 5–8. Be here. Get involved. Earn tickets. WIN!

This week in science we built bodies without looking anything up (did you know that your thyroid is in your stomach because it's what makes you fat? 😂)

We investigated a crime scene.

We are figuring out what resources make the best water filters for when we will get lost in the woods in October.

We tested Mars soil samples for biosignatures.
