🚧 Marquette Campus Paving Project Begins October 5🚧

Visitors to the Muskegon County Marquette Campus should plan for temporary traffic changes next week as pavement replacement work takes place from Monday, October 5, 2026, through Friday, October 9, 2026.

During construction, access to parking lots south of the building from Quarterline Road will be closed 🚫 Employees and visitors should enter from Marquette Avenue and use the drive west of the building or enter from Oak Avenue south of the building via Baker Drive.

To help everyone temporarily navigate the campus, directional signs will be installed throughout the project area 🪧 Select signs will also feature QR codes linking to a map showing paving locations and recommended traffic routes 📲📍🗺️

While these improvements may create short-term inconveniences, completing both paving areas this season is the most cost-effective approach and will help improve campus access and safety for the future ✅

Thank you for your patience as we continue improvements at the Muskegon County Marquette Campus!

October is Fire Safety Month—a great reminder that emergency preparedness starts before an emergency happens.

Muskegon County Emergency Management works alongside our fire departments, public safety agencies, and community partners to help residents prepare for emergencies of all kinds. Fire prevention is an important part of that shared mission.

Take a few minutes this month to strengthen your household preparedness:

Make and practice a home fire escape plan.
Know two ways out when possible and keep exit routes clear.
Make sure everyone in your household knows where to meet outside.
Keep important emergency information and supplies ready.
Talk with children and family members about what to do during an emergency.
If there is a fire, get out, stay out, and call 911 from a safe location.
Prepared communities are resilient communities. Prevention, planning, and coordination all help protect lives and property—and everyone has a role to play.

Did you know chimneys used to be made out of wood? In 1871 Michigan had fires the same day as the Great Chicago Fire. We've come a long way since then.
