Beginning Monday, June 8, city crews will continue to work on Greenhurst Rd and start on Dooley Ln.

The Midland Blvd and Iowa Ave roundabout will be CLOSED on Wednesday, June 10 from 8:30am to noon. The intersection will be closed to give crews the space they need to work. While the intersection is closed, drivers are encouraged to use detour routes on 12th Ave Rd, Lake Lowell Ave, Middleton Rd and Greenhurst Rd.

The Idaho Army National Guard’s 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team is hosting Armor Day at the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa tomorrow. The event, free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is the brigade’s farewell to armor as the unit transitions to a mobile brigade combat team.

The open house will feature an Abrams main battle tank, a Bradley Fighting Vehicle, a Paladin howitzer, additional static displays and family-friendly activities.

The unit has operated armor equipment since 1949 and is currently reorganizing as part of the U.S. Army’s Transformation Initiative. The strategic modernization effort is designed to strengthen the military’s capabilities in response to emerging global threats by adapting fighting formations and integrating new technologies to prepare units and Soldiers to fight on the battlefield of the future.

The brigade’s combat forces will transition from combat arms battalions consisting of tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles to infantry battalions utilizing the Infantry Squad Vehicle.

The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team will retain its cavalry lineage and designation following its transition, which will impact every subordinate unit across the state.

As shared in a previous press release, Nampa City Council is expected to vote on the mayoral appointment Monday, June 8. The meeting will begin at 5pm at Nampa City Hall (411 3rd St S). While the public is welcome to attend in person (seating is limited on a first come, first serve basis) or watch online, this meeting will be a council discussion and NOT an opportunity for public comment. Citizens are always welcome to contact their council members for any item before council vote (visit https://www.cityofnampa.us/108/City-Council).

Clarification: Last night several people (both inside and outside Nampa city limits) received a text message request to “vote” on their preference for the next mayor. Please know this text did NOT come from the City of Nampa.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding through this tragic and emotional process. For more info, visit https://www.cityofnampa.us/1781/Mayor-Appointment.

We also want to express gratitude to city staff for their continued service and professionalism to the community, and to Council President David Bills for his guidance and support during this difficult time. The collective effort to serve our residents reflects the strength of our organization and the values Mayor Hogaboam championed throughout his life of public service.

As a reminder, if you would like to support the Hogaboam family, visit https://www.cityofnampa.us/1782/Honoring-Mayor-Hogaboam

Water conservation starts at the roots -- literally! Waterwise plants not only look beautiful, but they need less water to thrive, making them well-suited to the Treasure Valley's high desert climate.

Want to learn more about waterwise landscaping? Check out Nampa's Waterwise Landscape Guide: nampa.info/landscapeguide.

Together, we can conserve our shared water resources. 🌷💧
