On November 8th, our Young Marines had the honor of conducting the Cake Es**rt and Color Guard for the Marine Corps League Detachment’s Marine Corps Birthday Ball.

Each Young Marine performed with professionalism, discipline, and pride—upholding a tradition that means so much to Marines past and present. They took their responsibilities seriously and were praised by attendees for their outstanding effort and precision.

We couldn’t be prouder of how they represented the unit and the Corps.

Semper Fidelis, Young Marines!

On November 2nd, our Young Marines proudly supported the Toys for Tots Motorcycle Ride.

Our unit assisted by serving chili to the riders and volunteers, helping keep everyone warm and fueled throughout the event. We’re grateful for the opportunity to give back and to support a great cause that brings joy to children during the holiday season.

Thank you to everyone who participated and to Toys for Tots for allowing us to be part of this mission.

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving with the 3d Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on the island of Peleliu in the Palau group, 18 September 1944. Boldly taking the initiative when his platoon's left flank advance was held up by the fire of Japanese troops concealed in strongly fortified positions, Pfc. Jackson unhesitatingly proceeded forward of our lines and, courageously defying the heavy barrages, charged a large pillbox housing approximately 35 enemy soldiers. Pouring his automatic fire into the opening of the fixed installation to trap the occupying troops, he hurled white phosphorus grenades and explosive charges brought up by a fellow marine, demolishing the pillbox and killing all of the enemy. Advancing alone under the continuous fire from other hostile emplacements, he employed similar means to smash two smaller positions in the immediate vicinity. Determined to crush the entire pocket of resistance although harassed on all sides by the shattering blasts of Japanese weapons and covered only by small rifle parties, he stormed one gun position after another, dealing death and destruction to the savagely fighting enemy in his inexorable drive against the remaining defenses, and succeeded in wiping out a total of 12 pillboxes and 50 Japanese soldiers. Stouthearted and indomitable despite the terrific odds, Pfc. Jackson resolutely maintained control of the platoon's left flank movement throughout his valiant one-man assault and, by his cool decision and relentless fighting spirit during a critical situation, contributed essentially to the complete annihilation of the enemy in the southern sector of the island. His gallant initiative and heroic conduct in the face of extreme peril reflect the highest credit upon Pfc. Jackson and the U.S. Naval Service.

Over the last two days, our Young Marines volunteered their time to assist a veteran named Charles in Payette by helping rebuild his back deck. Despite the heat and early mornings, these Young Marines showed true dedication—never complaining about the elements and working together as a team to accomplish the mission.

A heartfelt thank you to Boots on the Ground and the Idaho Veterans Chamber of Commerce for providing pizza and giving us the opportunity to support a local veteran. This experience was not only meaningful but a great example of service and teamwork in action.

A big thank you to the Boise Hawks organization for giving our Young Marines the opportunity to present the colors at your baseball game! 🇺🇸⚾

We had a last-minute change when one of our original rifle bearers couldn’t make it—but in true Marine fashion, it was “next person up.” One of our youngest Young Marines stepped up with courage and confidence, completing his very first color guard in front of hundreds of people.

That’s the power of this program—teaching leadership, resilience, and knowing that someone always has your back.
