More than 200 people came together at the VISIONS Center on Blindness for a Fall Festival filled with family activities, community connections, and celebration during 's centennial year.

I enjoyed joining the festivities and hearing from Erik Weihenmayer, a blind adventurer and author who shared his remarkable journey and introduced children to his new book, Touching Everest. Watching blind and sighted children explore the book together and engage with Erik was especially meaningful.

Our volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers answer the call whenever emergencies arise, giving their time and putting their own safety on the line to protect our communities. Their selfless dedication deserves far more than our thanks.

I cosponsored legislation that has now been signed into law, increasing New York State’s tax credit for eligible volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers from $200 to $800, and from $400 to $1,600 for qualifying married couples.

This much-deserved increase recognizes the dedication and sacrifices of the volunteers who serve our communities every day. I will continue supporting those who give so much to keep Rockland County safe.

I joined the 45th anniversary commemoration of the 1981 Brink's robbery to honor the memory of three men whose lives were tragically taken on October 20, 1981.

Brink's security guard Peter Paige, Nyack Police Sergeant Edward J. O'Grady Jr., and Police Officer Waverly “Chipper” Brown lost their lives during the robbery and the violent events that followed.

Forty-five years later, we continue to remember their sacrifice, honor their courage, and stand with the families who have carried their loss for so many years.

Music, colorful traditions, and the energy of Dandiya dancing made for a memorable evening at the India Cultural Society of Rockland’s Navratri celebration.

I enjoyed being a part of this special cultural tradition.

Thank you to the India Cultural Society of Rockland for bringing people together to celebrate Navratri and for sharing the beauty of Indian culture with our Rockland community.

A heartbreaking loss can inspire a mission that saves lives.

I attended the Swim for Yinka Annual Benefit Luncheon in Suffern, supporting an organization founded by Zewditu “Ziggy” Mulugeta in memory of her husband, Dr. Olayinka “Yinka” Akisanya, who tragically drowned in their backyard pool in 2022.

Ziggy has turned that personal tragedy into a lifesaving mission, helping children and adults in underserved communities gain access to swimming lessons and water safety education to prevent future tragedies.

My office was pleased to sponsor this meaningful event and support Ziggy's efforts to make swimming lessons accessible to more families.

There’s something special about Pearl River when the streets come alive for its annual Street Fair.

From the local shops and vendors to the familiar faces and conversations along the way, it was a wonderful opportunity to once again experience the character of the close-knit community I grew up in.

The Rockland County Hispanic Law Enforcement Organization (RCHLEO) held its annual Scholarship Fundraising Gala, bringing together law enforcement and community members to raise funds for college scholarships for local students in need.

I appreciated the opportunity to attend and support this meaningful cause. Congratulations to this year’s honorees: NYPD Detective Joseph Ayala, Rockland County Undersheriff Mary Barbera, Chief Ernest Morales III, and Rockland County Sheriff’s Deputy and retired NYPD Detective Sergeant Eric Vazquez.

Thank you to RCHLEO and everyone involved for supporting our local students and recognizing the dedicated men and women of law enforcement.

I was proud to co-sponsor Senate Bill S6233A, which quadruples New York State’s tax credit for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers from $200 to $800 for individuals and from $400 to $1,600 for married couples.

This is a meaningful step toward recognizing the selfless service and sacrifice of those who serve as volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers.

The bill signing took place Saturday in Nassau County with the Village of Hempstead Fire Department.

The 10th Annual Taste of North Rockland brought together local restaurants to showcase their food while supporting important community causes.& ;

Hosted by the North Rockland Rotary, this is an event my staff and I look forward to supporting each year. This year’s proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Rockland and Jawonio’s Food Bank. The Rotary also supports initiatives such as School Buddy Benches, which promote kindness and anti-bullying measures among students.

Thank you to the North Rockland Rotary, the participating restaurants, and everyone who helped make this event a success. It’s a wonderful example of our community coming together to support one another.

My Chief of Staff, John Mulgrew, represented my office at the Center for Safety & Change’s “Shine the Light: A Walk in Solidarity” event on the Tappan Zee Bridge.

John joined advocates, survivors, and community members from Rockland and Westchester counties to honor victims and survivors of domestic violence. Members of Gabby Petito’s family also participated in the walk, showing their support for this important cause.

Thank you to the Center for Safety & Change and all the participating organizations for bringing people together to support survivors and remember those whose lives have been lost to domestic violence.
