Leave burned trees standing if possible, say Sonoma Valley environmentalists Even if a tree looks dead, with burned leaves and charred bark, there’s a chance it’s still healthy – especially if it’s a native oak.
Friends...please be safe and keep in mind the hazards of any structures near high heat: glass that is not tempered can blow or shatter, gas mains, propane tanks, furnaces, water heaters - combustable sources, stored chemicals and pesticides, etc. Buildings can lose their structural integrity rather quickly in fire and high heat. With all this in mind, please be extremely careful when returning to any property that has been damaged by heat and be mindful of hazards - visible and otherwise.
