Talking of Merlot, another comes from my buddy Stan Boyd, I do not think Stan intended to become a winemaker, came to Napa to retire but the passion hit him hard and he is now making wine from his own grapes. And very well too, Mr Parker agrees. I personally like everything he makes as do all my guests. Cab. Franc is a favorite varietal of mine and Stan's is right up there with the best.

Hwy 29 or Hollywood Row as I call it, is not the best place to find Napa's finest, the exceptions disprove that rule. I found a Merlot there several years ago and it is still one of the finest in Valley. Their Meritage and Cab/Sauv(100% Cab) are great but that Merlot is superb and should be in every Napa Valley Cellar.....Billy Tuesday.

Rock Star Winemakers! This valley has more than it's fair share and I want you to meet some over the coming weeks. Jeff Fontanella, he makes some of my favorite labels from Napa. His own wines are superb, Chard and Zinfandel are great but Jeff has a magic touch on the blending of Cab/Sauv. Production is very small as it is with all the 'good stuff' from here.

I usually joke to my guests 'we are not going on a wine tour, we are going to visit my friends' and they happen to have great wines. Manny Frias is a prime example, Great Cabs, a great syrah and merlot, infact, there is not a wine I do not like, and the price is good too. A great Library selection......Billy Tuesday.

Folk coming to Napa want the 'good stuff' that we locals know where to find. So unless they hire a knowledgeable guide they will stumble around and miss the best we have. Help is on the way....comments from a fellow consumer and the contact information you need to get to the 'good juice'.......... Billy Tuesday.
