An Unusual Rescue for Napa Fire! 🚒
Napa Fire crews responded to an unusual call after a juvenile gull became trapped on a parking lot light fixture and was unable to free itself.
Crews safely accessed the bird and discovered that a fishhook was embedded in its foot, which had caused it to become caught and hung up on the light fixture.
The gull was carefully freed and brought safely to the ground. Napa County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control responded and took possession of the bird, transporting it to a local wildlife rescue center for further evaluation and treatment.
A great example of teamwork and compassion for one of Napa’s feathered residents. 🐦🚒
Nice work by everyone involved in giving this little guy a second chance!

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the extraordinary courage displayed by firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger when others were running away.

On September 11, 2026, our Fire Department Honor Guard will gather at our local 9/11 Memorial for a solemn, silent ceremony honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The ceremony will begin at 0548 hours and conclude at 0726 hours.

These times are intentional.

0548 hours marks the time the first tower was struck.

0726 hours marks the time the last tower fell.

During these 98 minutes, our NFD Honor Guard will stand in silence and remembrance—for the lives taken, the families forever changed, and the first responders who entered the towers knowing the dangers they faced, yet continued forward.

For those who wear the uniform, September 11th is more than a date in history. It is a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, brotherhood, and selflessness that define the fire service and all who answer the call to serve.

We invite members of our community to visit the memorial, stand with us in remembrance, and reflect on the lives behind the names.

25 years later, their sacrifice still matters.

We remember the fallen.
We honor the heroes.
We stand with their families.
We will never forget.

September 11, 2001 — September 11, 2026
Never Forget. 🇺🇸

🚒 Welcome, E8! 🚒

Today marks an exciting milestone as the Napa Fire Department officially takes delivery of E8, our new Type 3 Wildland Fire Engine.

This project represents months of planning and teamwork, and we want to thank everyone who helped bring it to the finish line.

Over the coming weeks, crews will complete training and final equipment installation before E8 enters service.

We’re proud to add this valuable resource to our fleet and look forward to putting E8 to work protecting the Napa community.

Welcome to the NFD family, E8! 🚒🔥
