Honoring the heart of NVUSD! 💙🎓

These educators, bus drivers, food service professionals, administrators, and support staff members embody the very best of our Adult Portrait. As compassionate communicators, equity champions, and activators of learning, they have dedicated their careers to putting students first and fostering a true sense of belonging. We are deeply grateful for the joy, excellence, and care they have brought to our schools every single day.

A space transformed. A community connected. Valley Oak High School is proud to celebrate the grand opening of our brand-new campus Wellness Center!

By converting existing space on our campus into a dedicated wellness hub, we are bringing our 2024–2029 Strategic Plan to life. This center creates the nurturing place our scholars need to thrive, offering essential mental health and wellness support directly on campus. It is a physical manifestation of our commitment to student well-being.

Our Wellness Centers are already making a significant impact across Napa Valley Unified School District by normalizing help-seeking behaviors, with three out of five students visiting our centers annually. During the 2025–2026 school year, Valley Oak High School recorded 785 visits, with 41% of our student population receiving direct, personalized support from our school social worker.

Our community gathered at Valley Oak to celebrate this newly converted space. Enjoy the highlights from this wonderful event!

Redefining how we measure success in our classrooms. 🏫🌟

In this exclusive clip from our Future in Focus podcast, McPherson Elementary Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) Katy Bell joins Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti, Ed.D., and Dr. Peter Abboud to discuss what achievement really means for our students.

Ms. Bell challenges traditional metrics of success, such as test scores, essays, and performance tasks. Instead, she highlights the ultimate goal of teaching: witnessing those unforgettable “light bulb moments” when a concept clicks and a child takes genuine ownership of their learning.

Through highly effective, district-supported professional development, NVUSD is building deep literacy capacity and bringing research-based, evidence-backed practices to all twenty-six of our campuses. When we empower our educators with advanced training, we help every student build the self-advocacy and confidence required to become lifelong learners.

Civic engagement in action! 🏛️🗳️

We were deeply honored to welcome California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N. Weber to Evans Auditorium. Dr. Weber shared her powerful journey to becoming California’s first Black Secretary of State—reminding our students that their voice is their power.

After an inspiring address and a thoughtful Q&A session, Napa County Registrar of Voters John Tuteur challenged our students to become “voting ambassadors” for their families and peers. Our students then headed to Napa High School’s quad, where they were given the opportunity to pre-register and register to vote with the help of the Registrar’s team!

Principal Dr. Ean Ainsworth said it best: “At Napa High, we have a long history of teaching students how to advocate for themselves and how to use their voice to build a better community.”

See the pictures below to catch the highlights, including Dr. Weber meeting with seniors to discuss their future plans! 🎓✨
