We're YOUR state park in east-central Ohio offering spectacular natural beauty, engaging educational programming, and awesome recreational opportunities! It’s that time of year again for the Dillon Naturalist’s Cryptid program with the Muskingum County Library System - and it’s happening TODAY! The presentation has once again been updated and expanded, so there is a HOWL of a lot we’ll be digging into and unearthing, covering the study of cryptozoology through the view of a curious, scientific, and exploratory wide-angle lens. While we’ll be doing a bit of globetrotting, our special focus is on Ohio & Appalachia.

This event is FREE and all ages, although some elements may be unsettling for the easily-spooked.

Takes place at the John McIntire Library branch auditorium in downtown Zanesville. Registration is requested at https://events.muskingumlibrary.org

Friday, October 9
Intro to Archery
• 5:00pm – 6:30pm
• Join us for a fun and informative introductory archery lesson on our range! This program is appropriate for both first-timers and those looking to hone their skills. All equipment provided. Ages 8 & up. Registration required by emailing [email protected].

Saturday, October 10
Turtle Talk
• 11:00am – 11:30am
• It’s that time of the month when we focus on our super cool shelled friends, the turtles! Join us for an in-depth discussion on and up-close look at our live turtles before watching them enjoy some lunch!
• Takes place at the Nature Center.

Saturday, October 10
Family Adventure Book Club: Flower Pounding & Leaf Rubbing
• 2:00pm – 4:00pm
• Connect reading and nature with Muskingum County Library and the Dillon Naturalist. Read books picked for kids and adults to celebrate fall then get messy with leaf rubbing and flower pounding fun. All materials provided. Registration required at https://muskingumlibrary.libnet.info/events.

Hi, folks! A quick update for everyone!
While our new splash pad had its official ribbon cutting ceremony last Friday, it (and the overall improvement project of that area) are still under construction. The splash pad will open fully next year from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Daily operational hours to be announced at a later date.

Our apologies for any confusion or disappointment. We look forward to a great first season of cooling off and splashing around next summer!

Just some knowledgeable and fun-loving Ohio State Parks naturalists from Dillon, Muskingum River Parkway State Park, and Jesse Owens State Park here at the Muskingum Valley Park District Riverfest on this beautiful Saturday! Not to mention a whole bunch of other vendors and activities.

The Nature Center will also be open today from 12-5pm for curious minds to come explore! We’ll have a variety of self-guided activity sheets to grab and go with as well!
