☔Watershed Wednesday☔
After a rainy several days, it's a good time to reflect on the fact that parts of our watershed are very developed, which can lead to pollution from stormwater runoff. Rain that falls on a roof, paved street, driveway, patio, or other impervious surface can rapidly make its way to streams and rivers, picking up pollutants along the way. Pennichuck has constructed and maintains many stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) throughout the watershed to mitigate problems associated with stormwater runoff. Homeowners can help protect our water supply as well by:
🌱 Planting native trees and plants to help infiltrate stormwater in your yard;
🏠 Redirecting roof leaders to pervious areas so the ground can soak up rain water;
🪣 Using rain barrels to collect rainwater for use in gardens.
