Would ya'll like to help keep Nashville safe? The TN Board of Health has been asked by the Council to adopt a universal indoor masking policy. Let them know you support this by sending them an email. You can find a template and addresses here:

WCS publishes both opt out and isolation numbers on a per-elementary school basis, so I decided to make a scatterplot 🤔
The x-axis is the percent of families who have opted out of the mask requirement. Y-axis is the current confirmed positive cases among students. The trend line there is pretty clear 👇
School opening update:
Metro Nashville confirmed cases among students last week: 457 per 100k
Williamson confirmed cases among students last week: 842 per 100k
One of these school systems has a mask mandate. The other has an opt-out policy that looks like Swiss cheese.
If you're among the parents in WCS that hasn't opted out you've got good reasons to be angry at the parents who have.
Wilson County (fully optional) is late posting their numbers but two weeks ago they were at 742 per 100k
We have been advised to spend some effort on masking outreach for teens.
*taps mic* Not wearing a mask is *checks notes* disrespecting the drip.
Share with your friends and colleagues in Williamson County. The more of TN votes for a mask mandate, the more likely our schools can stay open and we can be clear of this pandemic!
A bit late in posting this, but WE WON! The board voted 8-0-1 (Bush abstained) in favor of requiring masks in school buildings and on buses.
Thank you to everyone who reached out to the board and other local officials. Now we have one more ask - tell the board thank you. They need to know that we support their decision.
Please follow as well. The anti-mask team didn't skulk off after the board meeting yesterday - they stayed outside and strategized. There is sure to be meddling from the state legislature, legal challenges, and other forms of chicanery aimed at... what, increasing the intensity of a deadly pandemic? Well, that's the world we live in. We'll do our best to keep you informed.
School Board is meeting at 11am today. Come show your support!

The School Board is meeting Thursday at 11am. The outcome of the vote is uncertain - the district is getting a lot of pressure from the state. That's why the next 24 hours is a chance to apply pressure in the other direction. Ask your board member (https://mnps.org/board-of-education) to vote in favor of a mask requirement. Or better yet, show up in person to show your support at 2601 Bransford Ave. They will not be accepting public comments but your presence alone makes a statement.
Board of Education Due to social distancing measures, seating at board meetings is limited. We encourage those interested in viewing the meeting to watch on the Metro 3 channel. Those who have signed up to speak during the public participation portion of the meeting should be prepared to leave after their comments, as...
