Welcome! I’m a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) dedicated to supporting families with compassion, patience, and evidence-based care. My passion for lactation support grew from seeing how many parents struggle silently with breastfeeding challenges—often feeling overwhelmed, unheard, or unsure where to turn. I made it my mission to become a trusted, judgment-free resource for parents during one of the most intimate and vulnerable times of their lives.
I received my professional training and certification through Lactation Training Consultants, a nationally recognized organization specializing in comprehensive lactation education. Their program equipped me with deep knowledge in latch and positioning, milk supply, pumping, oral anatomy, infant feeding cues, and early postpartum support.
My approach is simple:
✨ Meet you where you are
✨ Respect your feeding goals—breastfeeding, pumping, combo feeding, or wherever your journey leads
✨ Provide practical, evidence-based solutions
✨ Offer emotional support during the challenges and celebrate the wins with you
Every family deserves support that honors their culture, their body, and their baby’s unique needs. Whether you’re preparing for birth, needing help in the early days, or adjusting your feeding plan weeks or months in, I’m here to walk with you—calmly, respectfully, and with genuine care.
You're not alone on this journey. I’m here to make breastfeeding feel more manageable, more supported, and more empowering. 🤱🏽💛

Hello I'm Natasha Simmons-Crutcher
also known as Sapphire tha Doula
Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula, certified lactation consultant , and breastfeeding peer counselor, Placenta Encapsulation Specialist
Serving Nashville, TN + Virtual Clients Nationwide
Mental health first aid
The 2020 pandemic allowed me the time to become a certified, trained doula through Blissful Birthing TN. I went through seminars and drills that covered a variety of topics. From the training, I understand how to advocate for birthing people, how to fully support a person during labor, and how to support families post-delivery.
As a mother of two, I have potential clients’ best interests at heart. I will fight for people to be treated fairly and ensure they receive the proper support.
With a heart for healing and a spirit rooted in community, I have been walking beside birthing people and families for over a decade. As a certified birth and postpartum doula based in Nashville, Tennessee, I offer both in-person and virtual support to help families navigate the powerful transitions of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
I began my journey supporting births as a teen and have been a certified doula for over five years. My professional training includes certifications through Blissful Births, Homeland Heart Birth and Wellness Center, and The National Black Doula Association (NBDA), where I also trained to become an official NBDA member. In 2025, I earned my Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) credential, allowing me to support breastfeeding and chest feeding parents with confidence and care.
My approach is warm, intuitive, and rooted in culturally competent, client-centered care. I create a safe, affirming space where every birthing person feels seen, supported, and empowered to make informed decisions. I also do placenta encapsulation services, which many clients find helpful in postpartum recovery.
I’m especially passionate about supporting all walks of life families and underserved communities, honoring the wisdom, resilience, and beauty of each birth story. I believe birth is sacred—and my mission is to hold space, offer knowledge, and provide unwavering support as families bring new life into the world.

In a truly uplifting encounter, I had the privilege of working with a phenomenal physician, Dr. Whitney Buck, who embodied the essence of compassionate care. Last Thursday, May 1st, I witnessed her unwavering dedication to her patients' wishes, as she meticulously followed my client's birth plan, allowing her to birth in various positions and delaying cord-clamping until the placenta was delivered, with the cord still intact. This selfless act was a testament to her commitment to empowering her patients. What struck me most was her willingness to listen and collaborate, making our teamwork truly seamless. As she departed the room, she graciously hugged and acknowledged my work as a doula , it was a heartfelt gesture that left an indelible mark. Unfortunately, I've encountered numerous physicians who disregard their patients' desires, but Dr. Buck's exemplary approach serves as a beacon of hope. She illuminated the fact that, as long as the baby and mother are healthy, there's no rush to cut the umbilical cord, and she patiently waited for almost two hours before doing so. This transcendent experience took place in a hospital setting, where Dr. Buck's unwavering commitment to her patients' autonomy shone brightly. I extend my deepest gratitude to Dr. Whitney Buck for her remarkable dedication to her patients' needs and desires. I don't have the rights to the photo.

Key Considerations for the Final Trimester of Pregnancy
1. Office cervical checks are not mandatory, even when Group B strep testing is performed; patients may opt out of cervical examinations.
2. Elective inductions should be avoided.
3. In cases where induction is necessary, inquire about alternative methods to the Foley bulb, as its use can lead to cervical swelling, potentially resulting in cesarean sections.
4. Following spontaneous rupture of membranes, place a pad and avoid immediate hospital admission, as this may initiate the clock; consider delaying hospital admission until contractions are intense and one to two minutes apart.
5. Consuming a meal prior to hospital admission is recommended.
6. Finalize birth plans in a timely manner.
