As Memorial Day approaches, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Members of the Nashville and Vanderbilt communities can attend local ceremonies this weekend, including observances at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery and the Nashville National Cemetery.
We honor their legacy and express our deep gratitude.

What comes after the uniform?
“The Next Mission” captures the deeply human side of transition, when structure fades, identity shifts, and the future is wide open. For Bass Military Scholars, that uncertainty becomes opportunity: to grow, to lead, and redefine what service looks like in a new chapter.

On race day, Bass Scholars anchored the sweep team at the finish line, helping care for 100+ runners. From spotting altered mental status to fast‑tracking patients into the field hospital, including a critical hyperthermia case. They brought sharp clinical judgment, teamwork, and calm under pressure when it mattered most.

This weekend, our scholars had the incredible opportunity to give back at the Month of the Military Child Carnival hosted by the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone, Tennessee.
They played a key role in supporting the event by running activity tents, engaging with families, and even managing a sunscreen station to help keep everyone safe in the sun ☀️
Thank you to everyone who came out and made this event so special!
