We’re moving forward with the dedication ceremony for the Senator Thelma Harper Highway — and we can’t wait to celebrate with you. This is more than a highway name. It’s a lasting tribute to a woman whose love for this community ran deep and whose legacy continues to shape us all.

Please note there has been a location change. The ceremony will now be held at the Bordeaux Library on Saturday, June 6th at 10:00 AM.

We ask that attendees wear red in honor of the occasion.

This Memorial Day, I stand not in silence — but in resolve.

We honor the fallen not merely with flowers and flags, but with the fierce, unyielding commitment to build the nation they believed in when they gave everything. Their sacrifice was not abstract. It was a mother's child. A community's son. A people's daughter. Real lives, laid down so that the rest of us could live freely, speak boldly, and fight on.

But honoring the dead means nothing if we betray the living.

To every veteran sleeping under a bridge tonight — we owe you more. To every military family stretched thin while Congress plays politics — we owe you more. To every community that sends its children to serve, then watches them come home to underfunded schools, unaffordable housing, and broken promises — we owe you more.

Memorial Day is not a vacation. It is a reckoning.

I will never stop fighting for the communities that sacrifice the most and receive the least. That is the promise I carry into every chamber, every vote, every battle worth having.

To our fallen: your legacy demands better of us. And better is exactly what we intend to deliver.
