tnAchieves students have completed 6️⃣.6️⃣ million hours of volunteer service since the program began in 2009, a milestone tnAchieves marked on September 25 with a statewide volunteer day and a new partnership with Volunteer Tennessee that gives students one place to find local service opportunities!🔥❤️🔥🔥
Every tnAchieves student completes 32 hours of community service to remain eligible for the Tennessee Promise scholarship, choosing from opportunities at nonprofits, schools, state parks, food banks and other organizations in their communities. Since 2009, that requirement has grown into a record of service: 6.6 million hours students have given back to Tennessee organizations and programs.
"tnAchieves is building Tennessee's future workforce, and that means connecting students to valuable postsecondary credentials that lead to high-demand careers," said Krissy DeAlejandro, President and CEO of tnAchieves. "But we want more than a credential for our students. We want them to graduate with a love for giving back, because a workforce that serves its community is how we build a stronger Tennessee. Passing 6.6 million hours of service tells us that is already happening."
"Volunteer Tennessee exists to make it easy for people to find a place to serve, and tnAchieves students have been showing up for their communities for more than a decade," said Jim Snell, Executive Director of Volunteer Tennessee. "This partnership connects tnAchieves students directly to the Tennessee Serves platform, so finding a community service opportunity is easier than ever.”
