Blast from the past! Thought I would share this with my Sylvan Park Elementary Paideia Design Center PTO friends! Promises to be an amazing performance...and Mrs. Claassen will be cooking up pancakes before the performance!
Dear Parents & Family,
I have a bittersweet announcement to make, I will be moving into the Hillsboro High School Position next week This was a possibility I visited in the Spring, that I thought wasn't going to happen this school year. I truly believe that Hillsboro High is the next step in my journey to be the Librarian that every school needs. I’m ready to grow and be challenged beyond my Elementary experience. I hope to bring the experience of my Elementary years to help nurture the love of the library in the High School Setting. I'm extremely excited about the vision Hillsboro High has for our cluster. I will have a huge Sylvan Park hole in my heart leaving, but know that I will be at the very beginning of bringing my former students through to their senior year at Hillsboro, which is really helping me say “yes” to this opportunity. So a lot of the sweet families I'm leaving here, I'll get to see again. Sylvan Park Paideia will always be a huge part of me and I guarantee to you that I will not be a stranger and Jameson Finn will be registering for kindergarten before you know it!
I Hope you will help welcome Hope Hall in as the new librarian with kindness & support. We both have been at Sylvan Park this week as I help administer the DIBELS assessment and hand the reins over to Ms. Hall. And if anyone causes me to cry this week, I will be adding a $200 overdue fee to their library account before I leave.

Mark your calendar! If you love the Llama Llama books, the author will be in town in September!
Thank you for your patience with dismissal! The 1st day is always a little painful with the wait & dealing with the technical issues. But we were able to deliver 1st-4th and all the brand new kindergartners safely to their cars . Give it a week and we will be back to our normal routine.
Parents, please be patient as afternoon car rider dismissal will be slightly altered. The new portable for Spanish has stairs that block last year's lane. Still come in the back with two lanes, but they will split once you enter parking lot. Remember to please stay in your cars & please stay off your phone. Thank you!

My books are out and read for teachers! Back to School is happening for teachers on Monday! Enjoy your last weekend of Summer 2013.
Dress Code is the same this year:
Shirts: Any solid color polo or oxford
Bottoms: Any shade of khaki, navy, or black (shorts, pants, capris, skorts, jumpers).
Shoes: Tennis/ Athletic Shoes are mandatory

I'll be checking in on my summer readers online tomorrow (every 2 weeks...it's already been 2 weeks???). Make sure they've posted their summer reads to qualify for my summer reader incentive program! Home Page Susan Blankenship, who has worked for Metro Schools for 13 years, has been named principal of Sylvan Park Paideia Design Center. Blankenship began her career with Metro Schools as a teacher. In 2011, she became the instructional Paideia coach for the district. Blankenship moved back into the schools...
