Tuesday morning The Nashville Office of Emergency Management brought together key community partners for a multi-agency disaster scenario exercise. The goal: tackle complex challenges that require coordination across organizations and test how we respond when it matters most.
By working through real-world situations, agencies were able to identify gaps, strengthen communication, and explore the tools and resources needed to keep our city running during times of crisis.
Strong partnerships and proactive planning help ensure we’re ready to support our community—no matter what comes our way.

Prepare for More Potential Severe Weather on Tuesday
Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, especially at night
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 28, 2026) – Strong storms moved into the Metro Nashville Davidson County area on Monday night causing multiple power outages, flooding and some tree damage.
According to NES last night approximately 16,351 customers were without power. The utility reports it has restored power to most impacted customers.
OEM’s 24-Hour Dispatch Center handled several calls related to the weather.
From 6:00 pm Monday until 9:00 am on Tuesday OEM Dispatch had more than 200 calls for service.

Another round of potential severe weather is forecast for Tuesday. Now is the time to prepare and make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.
The Nashville Office of the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts Another chance for severe weather late Tuesday, bringing another risk for damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes.
Metro Nashville Davidson County is under a Slight Risk (level 2/5). An NWS Slight Risk indicates scattered severe thunderstorms are possible, which are typically short-lived, not widespread, but capable of producing isolated tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail.It indicates that while most storms will stay below severe limits, a few could produce damaging winds.
What to Expect
Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected Tuesday evening into the overnight with a slight risk (level 2 out of 5) in place for all of Middle TN:
Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats; the tornado risk is low
Rain chances will taper off Wednesday with cooler temperatures settling in for the latter half of the week.

Report Outages: If there is a power outage, customers should call 615-234-0000, text "OUT" to 637797 (mobile phone must be tied to account), log into www.NESPower.com , or report it on the NES outage map at www.nespower.com/outages.
Be Safe: If you see a downed power line, stay at least 30 feet away and call 9-1-1 immediately. If you are using a portable generator, keep it outdoors and away from windows.

Prepare for Multiple Days of Potential Severe Weather

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 27, 2026) – Multiple rounds of potential severe weather are forecast for Middle Tennessee on Monday and Tuesday. Now is the time to prepare and make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.
The Nashville Office of the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts storms are expected to move into northwest Middle Tennessee on Monday evening then cross the area through the overnight hours.
Damaging winds will be the most widespread hazard, but tornadoes and large hail are possible in strongest storms. Isolated severe storms are possible west of I-65 during the afternoon.
Metro Nashville Davidson County is under a Slight Risk (level 2/5). The flood threat is low, but poor-draining areas might have issues with any intense rainfall
Another chance for strong to severe thunderstorms on Tuesday
Low to medium confidence for severe weather impacts Tuesday and Tuesday night
Damaging winds and large hail are the main threat. Low tornado risk.

The Office of Emergency Management will conduct its monthly Outdoor Tornado Warning Siren System Test at 12 Noon.
Keep in mind you may not hear the sirens. The sirens are not meant to be heard inside of homes or buildings.

Prepare for some possible storms Saturday Afternoon.
A line of showers & thunderstorms will move through this afternoon & evening. There is a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) for all of Middle TN for a low severe weather risk today. Main threats will be strong to damaging winds and small hail so just keep an eye on the sky if you're out and about today.
