On Wednesday, June 3, a multi-agency exercise is scheduled at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga.
The Tennessee National Guard's 45th Civil Support Team, alongside local first responders, will take part in the exercise, which will simulate an incident involving hazardous materials in a stadium setting.

The Chattanooga Fire Department, in partnership with the Tennessee National Guard and other local, state and federal agencies, will host a full-scale drill at Finley Stadium on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The training exercise will get underway at 8 AM so citizens can expect to see emergency vehicles and personnel in the area for several hours. It will simulate an incident involving hazardous materials in a stadium setting where thousands of people would gather.

The 45th Civil Support Team (CST) with the Tennessee National Guard will be involved in the training event. Their core mission is to identify nuclear, biological, and chemical agents, assess hazards, and provide immediate medical and technical support during Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) or hazardous material incidents.

The CFD’s Type 1 Hazmat Team, the Chattanooga Police Department, Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management, and the FBI will also participate in the Joint Hazardous Assessment Team (JHAT) Exercise.

To protect the safety and security of first responders and military personnel and the tactics used during hazmat responses, this training event will not be open to the media. No photos, videos, or drones will be allowed. Thank you for your understanding, support, and cooperation.

Soldiers from the Tennessee National Guard’s 278th Cavalry Regiment (MBCT) and the 1-117th Military Police Battalion (RTI) recently partnered with the Pennsylvania National Guard’s 56th Mobile Brigade Combat Team at Fort Indiantown Gap to train on the PDW C100 unmanned aircraft system. The system is being fielded to newly established Multi-Functional Reconnaissance Company unmanned aircraft system platoons and will enhance their intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities.

Governor Bill Lee, Tennessee's Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Warner A. Ross II, Commissioner of Tennessee's Department of Veterans Services, retired Maj. Gen. Tommy Baker and other distinguished guests held a Memorial Day Ceremony last week at the Tennessee State Capitol to honor those who served and sacrificed for our nation.

The Tennessee National Guard hosted the annual small arms marksmanship competition or “TAG Match” at the Volunteer Training Site in Tullahoma, May 14-17. This year’s event included 26 teams and nearly 110 individual competitors.

Staff Sgt. Seth Brooks from the Memphis Safe Task Force was recognized as the match “Top Shot” for accumulating the highest number of points in both rifle and pistol events. “TF Peacemaker” was the highest scoring team which included Staff Sgt. Seth Brooks, Staff Sgt. Dalton Helton, Spc. Forest Rose, and Spc. Thomas Harris.

TAG Matches are a resourced training event, open to Tennessee National Guard Soldiers and Airmen of all ranks, that use a competition format to build marksmanship expertise and strengthen the warrior ethos of our state. Each competitor was selected by their unit to join this effort and improve readiness.

This past Friday, May 15, a UH-60 Blackhawk and aircrew with the Tennessee Army National Guard’s 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion, based at Nashville's Joint Base Berry Field, trained and conducted practice water rescues in Hendersonville with the Nashville Fire Department as part of Tennessee’s Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team.

Last week, Soldiers and Airmen assigned to the Memphis Safe Task Force assisted local and state law enforcement in promoting public safety during the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, part of the annual Memphis in May festival. Guardsmen and women enjoyed meeting attendees and contestants while conducting community safety patrols throughout the event!

The Tennessee Military Department, in conjunction with the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency and other partnering agencies, conducted a disaster response exercise throughout Tennessee, May 11-15, named Tennessee Maneuvers 2026. The exercise gives participants the opportunity to activate and employ their response plans to improve mission command, relationships, and interoperability among federal, state, and local agencies.
