EANGTN Members,
The 48th Annual EANGTN Conference that was scheduled for April 17-19, 2026 at the Embassy Suites Cool Springs in Franklin, TN has been CANCELLED.
Due to the increased deployments of our Tennessee National Guardsmen across the state, projected attendance at this year’s state conference was too low to ensure a successful event.
If you have already registered and paid for the conference, you will be issued a refund within the next couple of weeks. Additionally, if you have already made hotel room reservations, please call the hotel ASAP and cancel your reservation. The Embassy Suites Cool Springs phone number is 615-515-5151.
EANGTN will still host a virtual Live/Silent Auction event to raise money for the Association. We may also still host our annual Bowling and Golf Tournaments to fundraise for the Association. We will send out more information regarding the Auction, Bowling, and Golf events and Nominations and Elections within the next couple of weeks.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Melissa Messina at [email protected] or our President, SMSgt Glen Barlow, at [email protected].
Thank you all for your support of Your Association. Don't forget to renew your EANGTN membership!
Sincerely,
EANGTN Executive Council

CALL TO ACTION: Exemption from Sales Tax on Motor Vehicles for TN National Guard members – Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 67-6-303
In 2025, EANGTN continued work on a proposal to amend the current Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 67-6-303. As the current bill reads, active-duty military and TN National Guardsmen in AGR status, may purchase one (1) motor vehicle a year and be exempt from paying sales tax on that purchase.
These bills did not make it through the Senate Finance, Ways, and Means Subcommittee in April 2025 during the 114th General Assembly.
They are being re-introduced in the 115th General Assembly (revised versions) and likely voted upon again in Spring 2026. WE NEED grass roots efforts to contact all members of both the House and Senate Committees and ask them to support these revised bills.
EANGTN has submitted a proposed amendment that would expand the scope of applicable tax exemption on the first $15,000 of the vehicle’s purchase price to TN National Guardsmen of the ranks E4 and below, every five years. The TN General Assembly will reconvene on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The proposed bill amendment will be filed with the State of Tennessee under the same bill numbers as last year: TN Senate Bill #0294 and TN House Bill #0193. See the link below for a copy of the proposed bill and links to find your legislators and those on the Finance, Ways, and Means Committees.
AS AN EANGTN MEMBER, IT IS NOW YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!
EANGTN needs the help of its members to get this bill passed in Tennessee. You are encouraged to contact your local Senate and House representatives, requesting their votes in supporting this bill. And not only should you contact your representatives for your area, but also those representatives on both the Senate and House’s Finance, Ways, and Means Committees.

In the years since 9/11, the National Guard has played a vital role in the War on Terror, the safety of our Nation and as protectors of our homeland communities. Guard units have deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, and all across the Middle East. They have also supported homeland defense missions, such as Operation Noble Eagle, which involved the deployment of fighter jets to patrol American airspace. The National Guard has been involved in a number of other domestic missions since 9/11 such as natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and Super storm Sandy. They have also provided security at major events such as the Super Bowl and the Olympics. They protect our borders, cities, and citizens.
9/11 changed the National Guard in many ways. The Guard is now a more visible and active part of American life. It is also a more versatile force, capable of responding to a wide range of threats. The Guard’s role in the War on Terror and other homeland defense missions will likely continue for many years. The collaboration with Brazen Sports and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States creates a timepiece that captures the memories of service and sacrifice for all those who have served, as well as celebrates the protections the National Guard will continue to provide for the future of America.
