Greetings from Ecuador! Here is a picture that Sarah snapped of Kyle in Quito today while they were out shopping around for supplies!
Kyle Chippy from Nashville Zoo is here in Quito with us! (He's the one on the left - the one on the right is Arctotherium, a now-extinct shortfaced bear. The only extant species of shortfaced bear is our very own Tremarctos ornatus, the Andean bear or spectacled bear). Kyle has brought over lots of camera traps and other gear for our field research, bought with the proceeds from Nashville AAZK's very successful Andean Bear Bash. Many thanks to all who made this happen!

Good luck to our carnivore keeper who is traveling to Ecuador today to deliver vital research equipment purchased with auction proceeds. He'll also be volunteering with ABF and maybe get some hands-on field research with some Andean bears. Best wishes can't wait to hear the stories.

Because of your support we were able to raise almost $10,000 at our Wild Impressions: Andean Bear Bash event. This is by far our most successful year. All proceeds will benefit the Andean Bear Foundation, for the purchase of equipment like these camera traps, weather station and a stockpile of batteries and SD cards. Our carnivore keeper will be traveling to Ecuador in less than 2 weeks to deliver the bounty and work in the field for 16 days. Thank you so much!
