Dr. Leigh Scheer joins the podcast to reflect on how campus politics and dialogue have shifted over the past twenty years and how those changes influence everyday life on campus. A 21-year member of the Vanderbilt faculty, Dr. Scheer is the Director of Undergraduate Studies and a Principal Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology and Human Development at Peabody College. She has spent more than two decades teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in developmental and educational psychology and contributing in many other roles across the university. Drawing on both experience and perspective, this episode offers rare insight into the political realities shaping Vanderbilt today.

This weekend, a delegation of our members attended the annual Tennessee College Republicans Convention at the state capitol. They got the chance to meet and hear from U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn and TN Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson.
They had a wonderful time connecting with young republicans from across the state and discussing the issues that matter most. Our president also had the opportunity to speak on the successes of the past year on behalf of the Vanderbilt College Republicans.

This weekend, several of our members attended the Nashville Freedom Conference hosted by The Daily Wire and Young America’s Foundation. They heard from leaders like Nick Freitas, Michael Knowles, Cabot Phillips, Scott Jennings, Robby Starbuck, and many others. They also received a video greeting from President Trump. It was an inspiring weekend of sharpening their conservative voice, building community, and connecting with young conservatives from campuses across the country.
