The Frist Foundation
We are a private foundation dedicated to enhancing Nashville's unique community resources. The Foundation acts both responsively and on its own initiative.
Most grants are made in response to requests from nonprofit organizations that operate in and around Nashville. From its outset, the Foundation has taken a special interest in strengthening infrastructure and building the service capacity of those agencies. At the same time, the Foundation seeks to identify emerging community needs and opportunities while connecting to other donors to help ensure those needs are addressed effectively.

Our Story
The Frist Foundation is a place-based grantmaker focused on Nashville, Tennessee. The foundation both responds to requests and acts on its own initiative in making grants aimed at having a positive impact on people’s lives. In recent years, its largest grants have gone to the Frist Art Museum and the Nashville Zoo. But we have also taken a special interest in building capacity and managerial capability of many other Nashville agencies, especially those serving vulnerable people.
