Our Summer Food Service Program kicks off Monday! ☀️🍴

This June and July, MAC will provide free breakfast and lunch meals for youth ages 18 & under at 90 locations across Davidson County.

“We’re ensuring every child in our community has access to the fresh, healthy food they need to thrive, play, and grow all summer long.” said Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell.

“Last year alone, we provided more than 170,000 summer meals and over 270,000 meals during the school year. These numbers show how essential consistent access is for the youth we serve.” said MAC Executive Director Jamekia Bies.

Meal locations include community centers, apartment complexes, day camps, faith-based programs, and sports camps.

🎉 Recap of MAC Day 2026! 🎉

On May 16, in recognition of Community Action Month, the Metro Action Commission hosted our 2nd Annual Community Action Day and the community showed up! 🤩 With an estimated 500–750 attendees, this year’s event surpassed last year’s turnout and brought families, resources, and community partners together for an incredible day of impact.

Here’s what we accomplished together:

🍧 500 snow cones served with Kona Ice
🍿 200 bags of popcorn distributed
🥗 252 food boxes distributed
🚌 173 free 3-year WeGo Journey bus passes issued
📚 50 students enrolled for Head Start & Early Head Start follow-up
🏠 155 individuals connected to financial assistance resources
❄️ 25 households assisted with Summer Cooling Program applications

A huge thank you to our community partners and food vendors who helped make the day so special by providing health screenings, after-school resources, SNAP support, school choice information, and fun activities for children and families.

This event was a true reflection of community in action, and we can’t wait to do it again next year! 💜
