Some days you just need to play! We are heading into this week full of gratitude for the cooler weather and the safe spaces in our communities created for kids to just be kids.

We’re thrilled to welcome Sarah Kennedy to the Freedom’s Promise team as our new Vice President! Her connection to our mission goes back two decades, giving her a unique perspective on the impact of this work and the people who make it possible. We asked Sarah to share a little about her journey with Freedom’s Promise and what has her most excited about stepping into this new role:

"I am honored, humbled, and thrilled to step into the VP role with Freedom’s Promise. What started as a news article and a vision-casting conversation with FP’s founder grew into 20 years of support for and commitment to this mission. Over the years, I have had the privilege of watching this work create real, generational change as a new generation of Cambodian leaders has risen up to transform their own communities and broader region. Now, I get to bring my passion and professional experience alongside a team that truly embodies “on earth as it is in heaven” and help carry this mission into its next chapter."

Sarah has already jumped into her new role with both feet, welcoming guests at our fall fundraisers and serving on our outreach trip this week! As you can tell, we hire people who aren't afraid to get in the trenches and get their hands dirty—we believe in rolling up our sleeves and serving alongside community members.

One of our favorite parts of our outreach trip is when the US team gets to bless and encourage the Cambodian team that has served with us all week. Everyone makes such huge sacrifices to make this happen. Time away from their families, and their jobs… working long hours in the heat day after day- but the sacrifice is so worth it!! And the reward has greater ripple effects than we even see. But a huge one is all the love and relationships that get formed on these trips!
